Beltane Ritual 2013

A fun and flirtatious Beltane Ritual with lots of poetry, a bit of dancing, and of course innuendo.

A Northern California Imbolc Ritual

IMG_0237-300x225

This was the first public ritual (outside of festival) that I wrote and presented for public consumption out here in Northern California. Be warned, this is not an Imbolc Ritual for the Midwest, but it might work in the Southeast or other places that are green and rainy this time of year.

The Confusion of Imbolc

(This post originally appeared on Agora back in February of 2012; it was my first post on Patheos. I always liked this particular piece and felt as if I had abandoned it by not moving it over to RtH. It’s not exactly the same post, I did some editing and added a few things, but [...]

40 Years 40 Things

In 40 years on this Earth I haven’t learned very much, but I have cultivated a lot of opinions. Join me in some self indulgence as I address ritual, deity, horned gods, and buffalo chicken.

Yule Ritual 2012

Yule has long been one of my favorite Pagan high holy days. There’s a festive spirit in the air, and though most people don’t know it, most of them are celebrating right along with us (even if it’s a few days later). On the Winter Solstice we celebrate the return of the Sun and we do so with joy and love and devotion to our gods.

Wrestling with Esbats

I’ve been running a small circle in my living room since March of this year. It’s been rather informal, while sticking to a few of the ritual tropes that my wife and I have been using for the last few years. When we were first starting out we met simply for esbats (more technically on [...]

Perfect Love and Perfect Trust: My Thanksgiving Ritual

Graphic1

It’s rare to feel “perfect love and perfect trust” in circle, and I was lucky enough to feel exactly that way this past weekend. After a long year I’m home, I’m happy, and I’m thankful for all the wonderful people in my life. Thanksgiving might not be a sabbat in the traditional sense, but I’m glad that it offers me that moment to reflect on all I’ve been given.

Samhain’s End

Samhain ended for me sometime near 3:30 am early Sunday Morning on November 4 when I finally drifted off into a fitful few hours of sleep. In past years the Halloween season meant one ritual, trick or treaters, and a giant party. This year the time of All Hallow’s resulted in three rituals, a handful [...]

My Samhain Ritual 2012

My stang, and a bit of the altar above our fireplace.

When I can find time to break away from writing “Raise the Horns” I enjoy writing ritual, Samhain is one of my favorites to write. Journey between the worlds in this overly long Samhain Ritual.

Writing Samhain

I’m in charge of a large Samhain ritual for a local Pagan group out here on the West Coast. With four official practices before the ritual (and two walk throughs the day of) it’s an undertaking that will consume a lot of my free time. That’s not a complaint, I knew that going into this, [...]
