West Memphis Three Walk Free After 18 Years

They were convicted for being young, goth, Wiccan metalheads at the height of the Satanic Panic. Today they walk free.

No evidence. Not a shred. Law enforcement decided the “Satanic kids” committed the crime and refused to entertain evidence that suggested otherwise. Recent DNA evidence exonerated them.

Not that you would know this by the DA running the press conference. He didn’t mention the DNA doesn’t match. He didn’t mention there was no real evidence. He didn’t mention the evidence points to a man who has walked free these 18 years. Reporters had to pry out of him that these innocent men are finally walking free after 18 years.

The State of Arkansas should be ashamed of themselves. Being Wiccan is not a crime. Being a goth doesn’t make you a murderer. A lot of people got caught up in the Satanic Panic. Admitting you were caught up in the hysteria and that you were wrong is valiant. Behaving like the DA did in the press conference is base and cowardly.

All my love and blessings go to Damien Echols, Jason Baldwin, Jesse Misskelley Jr and their families. I never thought I would see the day you would go free, and I’m crying tears of joy for you now. May you receive the justice you deserve and compensation for injustice done to you.

Oh my goodness, hearing them speak in the press conference broke my heart. When I find it to post I will share it here. I’m going to go cry for awhile in recognition of this much hoped for, but scarcely imagined day.

About Star Foster

Polytheistic Wiccan initiated into the Ravenwood tradition, she has many opinions. Some of them are actually useful.

I hope Damien, Jason and Jesse will be well compensated for their unjustified incarceration…Just another “witch hunt”…What a tragedy! My thoughts and prayers are with them and their loved ones

Thank God no one gave up on those guys…I followed the case since 94, I didn’t believe they did anything in the first place. First thing that came to my head was that we went back to the 1600′s…they were my age, and I listen to Metallica, wore black and questioned my religion (curiosity)…I certainly wasn’t a killer! It is sad for there to be a crime against your personality!!!
Damien, Jesse, Jason, I wish you all the luck in the next stage of your life, and my thoughts and prayers stay with you and your families, in the healing and bonds that will be able to exist now…lots of love <3

i havent followed it much i saw the doc on foxtel and bawlled my eyes out yes i think they are guilty ONLY cause one of them admitted it can anyone explain to me why they are not at fault for that HOWEVER in saying that IF they are completly INNOCENT then they need a HUGE compensation.  And yes I feel soory for them however nbot as sorry as I feel for the other boys who did get tortured by some monster and I feel for there family.  I have seen the stepfather finally agreeing to then NOT being guilty but also hope who ever did this is captured and justice served and I do hope because the police THOUGHT they had the right people they didnt stop looking to make sure.

They are not guilty, simple as that. The confession is a sham. One of them (Jessie) confessed after 12 hours of interrogation with NO legal representative present nor his parents. Also only the last 45 minutes of the interview was on tape, we do not know for certain what was said to him for the prior 11 hours. Any number of threats and psychological tricks could have been used. Also, Jessie had an IQ of 72 (the mental age of a 5-6 year old) and despite all this, he immediately recanted.

Do not forget these three were teengers themselves at the time, they did not the wits nor experience of a mature adult. You can see the difference between their behaviour in the two films, just as you would expect from anyone between the ages of 17 to 23.
