On Being Internet Famous: A Tip From Half Of Your Audience

I just unsubscribed from a popular tech feed on all platforms: Twitter, Facebook, G+ and Youtube. The person behind the brand produces quality content and I have enjoyed his videos, to the point that I endure his excessive self-promotion. It's seriously a never ending cascade of Look at me! Subscribe! Watch my videos!People gotta make a living, and if I appreciate your work I will submit to this neediness in order to be updated on your latest work. Imagining A Post-Gender World

Gender_signs

This morning I was puttering around my kitchen, fussing with toast and coffee, listening to Fleetwood Mac. I'd read Steve Provost's post on gender discrimination in Paganism (a response of sorts to Devin Hunter's post on the same topic) and I was trying to decide what, if anything, I should write about it this morning. When Interfaith Gets Ugly

From "Prayers to the Gods of Hellas" Facebook page.

The Jerk VS Bigotry Ratio

I've been watching the fall-out from the Halloran piece on The Village Voice since it was published. Every time I thought I had something to say about it, I would notice something else that would make me pause and cogitate.Straight up, I find Thrasher's wanton and casual bashing of Pagan religions offensive. It's unnecessary for this story and the image of a drunken lout staggering over a goat's bloody corpse is ridiculous. (The artist refused to comment when I contacted him.)When Halloran … [Read more...]

The Devil Is A Useful Creature

Some days I envy the Christians their Devil. He's such a useful creature. All the evil deeds mankind does can be left on his doorstep. Everything we don't like can be blamed upon him. He's a one-size-fits-all scapegoat and I kinda wish I had one.If I had a Devil I'd blame him for my hair not cooperating and looking sad and limp. I could spend more time on my hair, but it sure would be easier to blame a Devil for the frizzies. And when someone cuts me off in traffic, instead of reminding … [Read more...]
