You have GOT to be kidding me! January 22, 2010

I wake up in the usual dark of early morning to the sound of Ms. Action wailing “my bear! my bear!” as I roll over groggily to go help her, baby girl stirs in her sleep trying to find her food source.

I squint at the alarm clock and it says 6:50 AM. I am able to find the missing bear and tuck him back in with Ms. Action. Then I hurry back into bed with the baby to nurse her hoping that everyone will fall back asleep.

No such luck, I hear Ms. Action stirring in the next room, and then the bedroom door creaks open.

As you know, I am not a morning person. But since this post I have been making a sincere effort to change my attitude about getting out of bed, and our mornings have much more cheerful. Since it was close to 7 o’clock, there was no real hope for going back to sleep. It was time to get up and face the day.

So in an effort to make the best of it and I stumble out of bed leaving the sleeping baby girl behind. I meet a very crabby Ms. Action in the hall who demands a cup of milk.
Wow, this is not her normal morning demeanor. After getting a cup of milk for her and a glass of water for myself, I consider starting breakfast. It would make sense to start it now, before my hungry husband and Ms. Drama wake up. I’m planning on pancakes today.

But I still feel so groggy that I stagger over to the couch to try to wake myself up by reading for a bit. Ms. Action finishes her milk and is off to the races as usual. First she reads through several books on the floor, requests several snacks, and ends up in the bathroom where she cuts a lock of hair off her head with a small pair of nail scissors (does she have like a magic scissors radar or something?) during a supposed “potty break”. This last incident (and the fact that I’ve read about 6 chapters of my novel) seem to have roused me enough to attempt breakfast.

I’m surprised no one else is up yet, it must be almost 8 o’clock by now. Oh well, they will be up soon enough when they smell breakfast cooking. I turn on the Kitchen light and get out the bowl and whisk and start to page through my recipe book, Ms. Action is running in and out of her bedroom. Wow its amazing that hasn’t woken up Ms. Drama yet.

Suddenly my hubby calls from the bedroom.

Hubby: “What are you doing?”
Me: “Making breakfast”

Hubby: “Why?!”
Me: “Its almost 8 o’clock”

Hubby: “No its not, its only 5:30”
Me: “%$*&a8; You have GOT to be kidding me!”

The clock (in both the kitchen and the bedroom) were both accurate, I still have no idea how my daughter got me to get out of bed and be cheerfully starting the day BEFORE 5 IN THE MORNING!

I must have been sleepwalking or something.
