quran day 23

Here is another chapter which shows the reality-based nature of Quranic application. It does so by interweaving the subject of Quran with practical aspects of human life.

This chapter begins with talking about the descent from ar-rahmaan ar-raheem (41/2) This echoes the formula of verse zero which shows its referring to the chapter formations as well as Quran itself. Each of these is a kitaab (41/3) and is confirmed by the fact that the pages contain many kitabs (98/2-3). These kitabs, as 41/3, tells us a elucidated in themselves and are smooth and cogent readings for people who keep seeking knowledge. They humanise and inspire change (41/4)

41/26-27 talks about those who rejected the existential realities of the prior passage and who say don’t listen to the entire Quran but talk in the middle so as to gain the upperhand. Once again this shows that the focus on the holistic reading is vital.

The final part of this chapter, gives a lengthy process about the utilization of Quran. Vs 41-42 speaks of the dhikr (the memorised, protected recitation) which is in an honoured book. This refers to the divine arrangement of Quran which is being protected even though the arrangement is hardly used. Vs 42 tells us that no falsehood may enter it from any direction. Vs 43 affirms that it is exactly the same philosophy as what was told to the messengers from before. Vs 44 talks about the faultlessness of the coherence and that if it was faulty, it would not be elucidated. Rather, it is a healing for those who believe in it. Vs 45 mentions musa here (like many other passages linking Quran with musa such as 25/30-36) and links him with differences arising from the book. Vs 46-51 talks about the coming of the hour and the frivolity and fickleness of man, linking this state to the neglect of Quran.

Vs 52-54 are the most powerful. It talks about the essence of Quran and how it leads to Quran being our clarification of the human experience because Allah encompasses everything. It finally ends with 54 which talks about meeting Allah, the ultimate goal of Quran itself.
