Freedom from Struggle: Meditation To Ground You While You Work for the Liberation of Others — my talk at Wild Goose in NC 6/27 3pm June 16, 2014

If you’re coming to the Wild Goose Festival in North Carolina June 26 – 29, or still considering whether to make the trip, just a heads-up that I will be offering a centering prayer-based presentation again this year; my topic is, “Freedom from Struggle: Meditation To Ground You While You Work for the Liberation of Others“; I’m scheduled to speak at the “Chapel” space, and it’s planned for Friday 6/27 at 3 p.m., but you should check the final schedule when you get there to make sure of the location and time.

Here’s my description: In working for justice and liberation for all, it’s easy to get caught up in the struggle, attached to things you’re working to change, imprisoned by anger, burnout and frustration. Meditation cultivates a posture of working toward goals without attaching to outcomes — free to use your full energy effectively for the good of all. We’ll start with brief instruction for those new to meditation, sit together in silence, then discuss how meditation, Christianity and justice work fit together.

If you haven’t registered yet for the Goose, you can use my promotional code “PROSE” to get 30% off the registration fee! And please let anyone else know who’s going or might be interested in going, about Wild Goose, the registration discount, and my workshop. I look forward to seeing some of you there!

Much better reasons to come to Wild Goose include Brian McLaren, Sara Miles, Christian Piatt, Katherine Wilson, Kimberly Knight and Jim Wallis. And if that’s not enough, there will be tons of great music, including Jars of Clay.
