Bored by the presidency less than 30 days in, Donald Trump will have his first campaign event of the 2020 election on Saturday. Amid reports that he is beleaguered by the scope of the office, and battered by continued calls to investigate his ties to Russia, Trump has decided the best way to handle his problems is with his third vacation in Florida and a campaign rally.

“Trump’s choice to hold a campaign rally less than a month into his presidency breaks new ground. Where his predecessors practiced electoral politics between cycles, none was willing to do so as baldly, as quickly, as Trump.”

According to The Atlantic:

“Trump… is planning a straightforward campaign-style rally on Saturday. It’s at an airport, in a swing state, and it’s being advertised through his campaign website. His press secretary even called it a campaign event. Making the event a campaign event rather than a speech might afford Trump greater flexibility in who he allows to attend and who he excludes.”

Trump filed reelection papers on the day he was sworn in. He has also trademarked the campaign slogan: “Keep America Great.” So while his fellow Republicans in Congress dismantle environmental regulations, banking controls, and the Affordable Care Act, while relations with other nations suffer and the Russian scandal looms, Trump is fretting about Nordstrom’s not carrying his daughter’s clothing line and how he can get reelected.

Undoubtedly non-stop campaigning is just the formula for making America great. Right?
