We haven’t had access to a decent internet connection in quite some time. Paired with plenty of traveling, Proper Nomenclature hasn’t produced much for us to talk about.

I’ll also be very much occupied this coming week, but we have so much to share!

We were recently at the March for Life in Washington DC, where we experienced the historic blizzard of 2016 named Jonas.

We met and broke bread with the Democrats for Life of America and Charlie Camosy, said Hello to Life Matters Journal and the Consistent Life Network, and came in contact with some students, faculty, and staff from Franciscan University of Steubenville. We were also interviewed by ABC at the March for Life – wasn’t aired – where we discussed, among other things, participation at the march as a “Socialist for Life”.

(Our last quick post was tied to the March for Life and received some nasty commentary from our local crusaders who seemed to think dying on the way to the March was necessary or else you simply hate babies and worship Hitler – I know, it doesn’t make sense. The post was “Don’t Go to the March for Life in DC“, and was posted the day before we were at the March for Life and before many persons ended up stuck in the snow in PA on their way home from the MFL. Also interesting that many of those stranded in the snow attend Franciscan University of Steubenville, a very anti-government aid university; the students, and whoever else joined them, were assisted -with fuel, food, and water- before being dug out of the snow and sent on their merry way home by the government. BTW, ICYMI: Our friend Leticia Adams covered one beautiful manifestation of grace where the many travelers were stranded on the PA Turnpike. A snow altar was built and the Holy Sacrifice was celebrated – to be clear: not led by Franciscan University, as I understand it, for they did not have a mass kit, apparently. Though, I could be wrong.)

We also had a wonderful experience at the Catholic Social Ministry Gathering (also in DC), where we heard some of our friends discuss various realities and experiences impacting the Church in the USA, and made our way to San Diego (see photo) after a quick stop in Seattleland to talk about organizing a Fair Trade Festival at our parish – one small step towards justice. We’ll be in San Diego through February 17th.

Yesterday we came across two people praying at a local Planned Parenthood and we talked about how the cause against abortion is quite interesting within the Latin@ context.

That said, we’ll be back soon to chat about these and other happenings!

Check out our Archives and consider reviewing “If You Want Atheism, Destroy Creation, Embrace Capitalism“, “John Paul II: If You Want Priestly Vocations, Reject Capitalism“, or our “Catholic Worker Inspirations” archives. Of course, you could look at the way socialism is discussed within the social teaching of the Church. Was Dorothy Day an anarchist, distributist, or socialist? There we answer: All three.

Pray for me.
