Love is the Only Answer to Fear

Love is the Only Answer to Fear February 23, 2012

Although the word love represents a vast array of interpretations, I believe it would be safe to say, there exists no other word that has impacted life in this world more than the word love. Try as you might, you would be hard pressed to come up with a word that is more powerful than the word love. That said, you would be equally hard pressed to find a definition for the word love that everyone would agree with.

From a channeling I did some years ago, I received a message that the world was going to go through a transformation of sorts. What I heard was, “The world is preparing by ongoing bouts of fear so intense, many are literally scaring themselves to death.” Along with this I also heard, “Love is the only answer to fear.”

I also remember hearing in another channeling, the reason for turbulent times that appear to becoming more and more obvious and more widespread, are being misunderstood by most people. Without going into every specific detail regarding the nature and reason for the events in this world, I wish to say, you would be wise to begin to interpret your life from the view of Spirit rather than the temporary and tenuous view of man.

While many understand this and have come a long way in that area, there are others who will find reinterpreting their life is easier said than done. This is because; to see things through your spiritual eyes requires you to see as God sees and that means we must release the attachment to the details of our intellectual thinking mind. Knowing this, Einstein once said;

“I want to know God’s thoughts; the rest are details.” Albert Einstein

Before you can have a clear understanding of God’s thoughts, or and your relationship to God, you must also have an understanding of Love and Fear.

The Course in Miracles states, there exists only two emotions that can be experienced. The first emotion is Love and the second Fear. The course goes on to explain that only that which is Love is real. It also states, although fear may not be real, it is not without power.  What it means by that is, all fear based thoughts have the potential to keep you from awakening to God and your True Self.

Getting back to understanding Love and God, I would like you to consider what God said to Moses in Exodus 3:14 and Isaiah 45:5-7

“And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.”

“I am that I am”, in and of itself, may not provide a clear picture of God but when combined with what God said to Isaiah it can be seen that nothing existed other than God or what God created.

Isaiah 45:5-7

I am the LORD, and there is no other; apart from me there is no God. I form the light and create darkness, I bring prosperity and create disaster; I, the LORD, do all these things.  You heavens above rain down my righteousness; let the clouds shower it down. Let the earth open wide, let salvation spring up, let righteousness flourish with it; I, the LORD, have created it.

Looking at the above passage where God takes credit for not just the positive but also the negative, it may at first be difficult to accept a couple of other tenets that state God is love and God is that which never changes.

Obviously, from the human perspective, if you were to imagine God as Love, you would have a hard time accepting that same entity/Creator could be responsible for creating disasters or for the suffering that some have endured. In fact, from such a positional perspective relative to a human life, there are indeed many instances where there appears to be contradictions to what is taught about God.

If there is one thing that I am completely certain of it is this, there are no contradictions in truth.

This brings up a natural question that I am sure many have asked. How then is it possible for God to be ultimately responsible for creating negativity and hardship and still be nothing but love?

As mentioned above, the problem with understanding God/Love comes from and is directly related to misperceptions. The primary cause of misperceptions is related to whether things are seen from the human or the spiritual view. In the most simplistic terms, the differences between these views could be compared to the difference between night and day or black and white.

For those who read Prophet or Madman, you may recall, I used the color white as a metaphor to represent God. I chose this imagery because; white is achieved only through combining all the primary colors in a perfect balance. White also reflects light whereas black is the color of objects that do not emit or reflect light in any part of the visible spectrum.

Using these extremes to represent Love/Spirit and Fear/Ego is a great way to create a visual that helps us understand the properties of Love and Fear. In the most general sense, Love is inclusive and Fear is exclusive. Love is giving and concerned more for the whole. Fear is taking and concerned for self preservation, which at best, can include thoughts for those who belong to my family, my country, my church etc…

In “The Prophet” a book written by Kahlil Gibran, Gibran wrote,

“Love possesses not nor would it be possessed; For love is sufficient unto love. And think not you can direct the course of love, if it finds you worthy, directs your course. Love has no other desire but to fulfill itself.”

In Reality, Love/God is expressing itself through all that is including you and me. This is why the only true and lasting answer to fear is LOVE/GOD.

Regardless of your path or what religion you practice, if you wish to awaken yourself and live awakened in this world you may find yourself reinterpreting your view of reality itself!

More to come…

Love and Light,

Brother Bruce
