Planned Parenthood Received $453,000,000 in Government Funding in 2013

Forty-five percent of Planned Parenthood’s 2013 budget, or $453,000,000, came from direct government funding.

In addition, another 25%, or $305,000,o00, came from “non-government health services revenue.” I can’t say definitively, but based on my years of dealing with government budgets, I imagine that a good bit of this “health services revenue” is actually indirect government funding in the form of pass through monies.

Does that make it clear why the head of Planned Parenthood campaigned so assiduously for President Obama?

Planned Parenthood has become a quasi government agency. Anybody who takes $453,000,000 in government funding in a single year is not a private organization. I would include a fair number of corporations in this same boat.

The government trough has become big business for a lot of big businesses, and the enterprise of trading on “women’s health” is no exception. That is why this organization pushes dangerous chemical birth control, like depo provera and the morning after pill, on unsuspecting women. Unlike the completely safe barrier methods of birth control, women have to keep coming back to Planned Parenthood to get their dose of hormones.

These hormones are powerful. They bathe every cell in a woman’s body in a bath of artificial hormones. In the case of the morning after pill, this is a high dosage, which, if the woman uses it repeatedly, must have a multiplier effect. With birth control, the constant exposure of women’s entire bodies to dosages of artificial hormones can go on for decades.

In the meantime, women have to go back and get their scripts. Every visit is a Ka-Ching! for Planned Parenthood.

Planned Parenthood lobbies aggressively all over the country to allow abortions to be performed by personnel other than doctors. They are fanatic about blocking requirements that abortion clinics conform to the same regulations that are applied to all other surgical centers. I don’t think this is because they are supporting “women’s health.” I think it’s a better, more profitable, business model for them.

It is not an indictment of the regulations that so many abortion clinics in Texas had to close because they could not comply with the legal requirement that they function as normal surgical centers. It is an indictment of the clinics.

Planned Parenthood has made the practice of prescribing the most dangerous forms of birth control and selling abortion into a big, government-funded enterprise. They’ve managed to spin this with their claims that “women’s health” equals dosing women with these dangerous forms of chemical birth control and allowing any abortion at any time for any reason.

Four hundred, fifty-three million tax payer dollars say that this is government policy, right up there with roads, national defense and education.

It’s your money. Is this how you want it spent?

Planned Parenthood Pushing Birth Control Implants & Shots Despite the Risks

This video is a Planned Parenthood video promotion piece for birth control implants.

The video below is a very casual “review” of the implant from a teenaged mom who is using it. Be advised that she speaks frankly about personal body issues.

None of the side effects she describes are medically necessary, since the implant itself is not medically necessary. Side effects of Implanon include irregular periods, acne, dizziness, facial hair growth, viral infections, mood swings, depression, anxiety and the side effects associated with birth control pills.

The Implanon implant costs between $400 and $800 USD.

None of this is medically necessary. These are risks women have been taught to undergo in order to shut down their reproductive systems.

In this video, Planned Parenthood champions the long-lasting birth control shot, Depo Provera.

And here we have the FDA warning of bone loss resulting from taking Depo Provera. The warning specifically mentions that this may be especially dangerous for adolescent girls who are going through an important increase of bone mass which will not be repeated later in life. What age group is most likely to take Depo Provera????

Again, these are unnecessary risks being pushed on young women by a misogynistic medical profession and population control industry who clearly do not care for them or their health.

The actual FDA warning says:

WARNING: LOSS OF BONE MINERAL DENSITY
Women who use Depo-Provera Contraceptive Injection may lose significant bone mineral density. Bone loss is greater with increasing duration of use and may not be completely reversible.

It is unknown if use of Depo-Provera Contraceptive Injection during adolescence or early adulthood, a critical period of bone accretion, will reduce peak bone mass and increase the risk for osteoporotic fracture in later life.

Depo-Provera Contraceptive Injection should not be used as a long-term birth control method (i.e., longer than 2 years) unless other birth control methods are considered inadequate. (See Warnings and Precautions (5.1)).

One of the most disturbing parts of all this is the willingness of the medical profession to collude in promoting dangerous medications to well people. I am not taking a position either for or against using contraceptives to limit family size. But I do take a strong position against using dangerous medications to treat well people for social convenience. I don’t see how that can be considered good medical practice.

In truth, there are birth control methods available that do not endanger the woman’s health. Most of them also do not require a prescription or expensive trips to a doctor or clinic such as Planned Parenthood.

I will ask again as I did in the first post I wrote on this topic today, can you imagine our medical establishment marketing things like this to men? From everything I’ve seen one of the reasons these dangerous methods of birth control are being pushed on women is for the convenience of men, to make women sexually available at all times with no requirement for male responsibility.

Assuming that the men in question may actually love some of the women in their lives, it might behove them to speak out against these dangerous methods themselves. Do they really want their wives and daughters dosing themselves with powerful hormones and implanting devices in themselves than can do them harm?

This is just another expression of the bad old double standard that the women’s movement fought so hard against in the past. It is a tragedy that they now use the advertising slogan “reproductive health” to support it in this newer and even more dangerous form.

Today is Call Planned Parenthood, Schedule an Imaginary Mammogram Day

Live Action News has declared today, October 18, 2012 “Call Planned Parenthood and Schedule an Imaginary Mammogram Day.”

This is in response to Planned Parenthood’s inaccurate claims that it does mammograms. President Obama made similar claims in the Presidential Debate this week.

These false claims of medical care that Planned Parenthood does not usually offer go hand in hand with Planned Parenthood’s claim to be America’s “Number One Women’s Health Care Provider.” That particular claim can only be true if you limit your definition of “women’s health care” to abortion.

In truth, Planned Parenthood is an international population control organization with a history of involvement in eugenics. It has pushed birth control methods on women such as the IUD, Depo Provera and the morning after pill, which are much more dangerous for women than less invasive forms of contraception.

Planned Parenthood has a history of attacking anyone who tries to reduce its funding. Foremost among it’s method of attack is to label any attempt to limit funding of Planned Parenthood as a sexist attack on “women’s health.” The most recent example of this is the way that Planned Parenthood attacked Komen Breast Institute when Komen tried to shift grants they’d been giving to Planned Parenthood to other providers.

Claims that Planned Parenthood provides mammograms appear to be an attempt to cast the nation’s number one abortion provider as a full-scale women’s health outlet. The reasons behind this have very little to do with the facts, and quite a bit to do with Planned Parenthood’s constant push for more government funding.

Call Planned Parenthood and Get a FREE Imaginary Mammogram!
by Kate Bryan October 17, 2012 29 Comments

If you were watching the 2nd presidential debate last night, you probably remember President Obama’s claim that Planned Parenthood does mammograms. (Aww, bless his heart. Obama actually thinks that his buddies at the abortion-giant Planned Parenthood do mammograms.)

Mr. President, I’d like to welcome you to the real world – where Planned Parenthood does not do mammograms.

Just over a year ago, Planned Parenthood CEO Cecile Richards was caught in the middle of a massive lie, when she said on national television that Planned Parenthood does mammograms. Well – Live Action was watching (or as Planned Parenthood says, Live Action “women were watching”) and decided to investigate her claims. (See the YouTube video below to view what Live Action found.)

Last night during the debate, President Barack Obama gave a shout-out to his girl Cecile Richards and her pro-abortion posse at Planned Parenthood, and he repeated Cecile’s false claim that Planned Parenthood does mammograms.

It’s time for the president of the United States, Planned Parenthood, Hollywood starlets, and everyone else who has spouted this ridiculous claim to snap out of their fairy-tale world and back into reality, where Planned Parenthood does not provide mammograms.

Now – here’s where it get’s fun!

Our friends at And Then There Were None came up with a creative and hilarious idea to help expose the truth even more — and launched the official “Call Planned Parenthood to schedule your imaginary mammogram” day!

Tomorrow is “Call Planned Parenthood to schedule your imaginary mammogram” day, and this is your opportunity to call Planned Parenthood and their comrades out on the false claim that Planned Parenthood provides mammograms.

Planned Parenthood, the president, and countless celebrities have spouted this fallacious claim, and they refuse to admit that they are wrong. So – we’re going to expose the truth (again), and we need your help!

What to do:

TOMORROW, Thursday October 18, 2012

Call 1-800-230-PLAN (7526) to get your local Planned Parenthood center.

Then – tell Planned Parenthood you would like to schedule a mammogram. (Read more here.)

Here is what Live Action found when it investigated
