Not feeling ya…Bern

Bernie Iowa

I assure you I am talking about areas as a supporter and voter where I don't "Feel the Bern" in ways that are intellectual. New Hampshire and Super Tuesday primaries are fast approaching. Perhaps what the Iowa Caucus statistical tie is showing us is how much difficulty Democrats are having choosing between Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders.  Understandable given the buyer's remorse over electing Barack Obama over Mitt Romney, which I don't completely get but this is not a post about the … [Read more...]

Trumpless Debate Tonight

Donald Trump

In my opinion it is always a good idea to watch a presidential debate. Even though the GOP debates have been rancorous. At least tonight we won't have to cringe at Trump bullying Jeb Bush. More information is always better though. One of the objections I often hear that sets my teeth on edge is "both parties are the same". Any potential voter, who watches both of the party's debates has substantive reasons to tell you why that is not the case. It is a claim that can only be made in ignorance of … [Read more...]

Clinton: National Security Concerns

Not even by the loosest definition of that word.

I have to agree with Bernie Sanders that I don't give a damn about her damn emails, or Benghazi conspiracies either. This won't be the type of post about some arcane conspiracy that an avid Alex Jones fan would obsess over.  Later, I will get to my concerns about Senator Bernie Sanders in the next post, so it won't be a Clinton bashing party either.Although I am a Sanders supporter, Clinton still has time to change my mind. I watch the presidential debates with questions in mind I'd like to … [Read more...]

Rubio: Our Rights Come From God

Rubio Gawd meme

Last night's Republican debate was Florida Senator Marco Rubio's next to last opportunity to pitch his candidacy to primary voters before the Iowa Caucuses on February 1st. The next debate will be in Iowa itself on January 28th. It should really come as no surprise to anyone following his campaign that for his closing sales pitch of the debate that he repeated this claim: You know 200 years ago, America was founded on this powerful principle that our rights don't come from government our rights … [Read more...]

Interstellar and the dangers of anti-intellectualism.(Minor Spoilers)

Although Interstellar is set in a dystopian future, one of the scenes is an all too familiar page borrowed from the present. The setting takes place in the future where crops are dying from a plant pandemic of some sort of blight. With plants gone, all life will become extinct as the atmosphere becomes unbreathable. And of course, the extinction of plants or the producers at the base of the energy pyramid will cause irreparable harm to the biosphere. … [Read more...]

Say it ain’t so Bill Nye! Bill Nye debates Ken Ham.

So Ken Ham won't debate Aron Ra and PZ Myers because... reasons! He complained that the debate invitation was rude, but look how rude he was to Bill Nye...“Bill Nye still doesn’t understand the difference between historical science and observational science -- so he may be known as ‘Bill Nye the science guy’ -- but he doesn’t understand science correctly,” Ken Ham wrote on Facebook. "[Bill Maher and Nye] don't want the truth -- they continue to 'suppress the truth' as the Bible states in Rom … [Read more...]
