10 Mother’s Day Gifts for the CrossFit Mom

10 Mother’s Day Gifts for the CrossFit Mom May 5, 2015

It’s almost Mother’s Day, and I hope that you’ve sorted it all out weeks ago and don’t need any suggestions. On the off chance that you haven’t planned ahead and are now starting to wonder what the heck you’re going to get Mom to show her how important she is in your life, I’m here to help.

For a lot of moms, the internet suggestions of flowers, jewelry, and portraits of her kids are great ideas. But if you’ve got a CrossFit mom, she may have her eye on a few other things. There’s still time to order online if you get it done ASAP, so here are a few ideas for the mom who loves going to the CrossFit box. (The title under each picture is a hyperlink to buy/learn more about each gift idea.)

1. Speed Rope

Whether she’s already got her double-unders or is still working her way up to stringing them together, a fast speed rope can make them easier to do.  The foam grips keep them from slipping out of her hands, and it’s fast enough to really whip them out.

2. Lifters

Reebok Women’s Crossfit Lifter 2.0 Training Shoe

What woman doesn’t like getting cute shoes? I know it seems silly to say that shoes can make all the difference when it comes to Olympic Lifting, but it really does. The added stability make going heavy a little bit easier, and what CrossFit mom isn’t looking to add a few PR’s to the board? The added bonus? They’re cute and come in a variety of colors.

3. Hand Grips

Ripping your hands hurts. If Mom’s been CrosFitting for any length of time, chances are she’s ripped hers a time or two. While we all take pictures of the damage and post it to social media as proof of our badassery, we’d really rather not rip them in the first place. (Washing your hair with ripped hands is pure torture. Don’t let the hands rip.) I like these grips because they’re a two-fer – hand grips and wrist wraps all in one.

4. Rip Fix

In case her hands do rip, there’s nothing better for them than Rip Fix

5. Kettlebell

SPRI Deluxe Vinyl Kettlebell

Whether it’s a pretty kettlebell dipped in vinyl to protect the floor, or one with a little more personality

there’s nothing quite as cool as having her own kettlebell to use either at the box or for a little extra training at home.

6. Shoes

Innov8 Cross-training shoes with a minimal drop

I know that CrossFitters are all about their Nanos, but let me break rank here for a moment to say how much I LOVE Inov-8’s. Nanos never quite fit my feet right, but Innov8’s always have. Their low drop is perfect for the WOD, and they hold up to all the running I do when I’m not at the box. They’re simply a great shoe for CrossFit and everything else moms have to do.

7. Headband

SVF Headband

Stop the sweat drip and keep my hair out of my face? YES PLEASE! While not every headband works for every head, these seem to work for most of the people I’ve seen at the box. With lots of colors and patterns to choose from, you’re spoiled for choice. Get one to match her new lifters, and also her favorite yoga pants.

8. Soap

Clean Snatch Soap

Soap? Yes, soap…but only if it’s Clean Snatch Soap. Specially designed for cutting through WOD funk, easing sore muscles, and killing the nasty germs you find at the gym. While it works really well, most CrossFit folks turn into 12 year boys once you mention the word snatch – which makes this a double good gift – it works and it will make her snort with laughter. Score! (If only the company would start offering Clean & Jerk hand lotion my delight would be complete.)

9. A little bling

WOD jewelry from ETSY

She might love the gym and lifting heavy, but she’s still a girl. What woman wouldn’t like a little bling, especially if it celebrates her personal gains and accomplishments? Mom pushes herself hard at the box, and these necklaces let her know how proud you are that she does.

10. A Sports Massage

No picture here. You’ll have to find a massage therapist in your area.

No soft music and incense here. I’m not talking about a massage for relaxation, but one to ease sore muscles and promote healing. Wodding can take a toll on the body, and a deep tissue sports massage can help release tightness, promote healing of sore muscles, and take the ache out.
