{SQT} It Happened This Week!

{SQT} It Happened This Week! October 9, 2015

I had this whole build up planned that I was going to do here – building to a crescendo…but I don’t so that well, so let’s start with the big stuff and work backwards

1) The Visitation Project is on iTunes!

Oh my gosh! How cool is that? Now we’re not just wherever you are, we’re whenever you are too! (The picture is also a link to the TVP page on iTunes!)

2) All of this awesomeness means that I’m gearing up to head back out to Portland to record another round of shows! The fact that I get to do this with these amazing women, and people listen to it and love it? It’s beyond the picture that was in my head when Heather and I were joking about it last year. It’s seriously one of the coolest things I’ve ever done.

3) Speaking of cool women, my college roommate came to town Saturday through Wednesday. She’s a very cool DIY blogger and all around awesome person. We decided that we needed to pick a project at my house to work on, and while there are lots to choose from, we decided to start stripping down and refinishing this old trunk that I inherited from my husband’s grandmother.

It had the tiniest bit of the original green peeking through the bad brown paint job with which it had been assaulted at sometime in the 50s.

We spent days carefully cleaning it, and removing the brown paint layer by layer. It’s not done yet, but it already looks spectacular! I can’t wait to unveil it on her blog in a few weeks.

4)On Wednesday, Scottie and I went down to Houston and had lunch with friends of ours – Masterchef winner Luca Manfe and his beautiful wife and adorable son. Cate stays out of the limelight, but the rest of us can’t resist the chance to get in front of a camera.

When a famous chef invites you to join him for lunch, you say yes of course! He didn’t cook this time, but he knew a great place with seriously the best mac and cheese we’d ever eaten.

5)I’m now working three afternoons a week as a Crossfit coach, and our lives are insanely hectic this school year. There was a lot more kid watching falling on my 14 and 15 year olds than I was comfortable with (they need to have a life too), so I hired a teenager to come in one or two afternoons a week to fill in the gap between when I leave at 4 and my husband walks in the door at 5:30. She starts this afternoon, and my littlest ones are excited to have someone new to play with. I’m crossing my fingers and saying a prayer that this all works out.

6)The 15 year old finished up his first season of cross country running. His first 5k took him 31 minutes, and the one last weekend was just slightly over 20. He cut 11 minutes from his time, and is already planning on how to cut it even further by next season. I’m still not sure that he actually likes to run, but he got up every morning for his 6am practices without complaint.

7)My 3 year old has discovered the joy of making her own toast, and can even butter it now. She’s gone through a loaf of bread in the past 24 hours, and my kitchen counters are slick. Hooray for learning to be independent!
