Sojourners and Jim Wallis are hosting a call with faith leaders and clergy in Indiana to discuss the health-care debate next week — sign up today to join us. The toll-free call will take place October 14th at 10 a.m. CDT/11 a.m. EDT and will last about 45 minutes.

If you have questions about the health-care debate or wondered if, as a faith leader, you should get involved — this is a perfect opportunity to get your questions answered. The call is an attempt to bring some civility and clarity to a very confusing debate, but one with clear moral dimensions and long-term consequences.
The goal of the call is to connect and inform local church leaders around this important issue. It is okay if you don’t know how you feel about plans for reform — join the call to learn more.As Congress continues debating reform, we are likely to see more fear-based advertisements flooding the airwaves — but these ads are usually underwritten by special interests and appeal to our fear, not our love of neighbor or compassion. In this debate it’s more urgent than ever for people of faith to be a part of the process. We need honest dialogue about quality, affordable health care for everyone.
As many churches have seen in their congregations, many families are just one accident, one unexpected situation away from losing their health insurance. Our country can and should do better.
