We Didn’t Hear The Question

In connection with a discussion of banning laptops in classrooms, a music video has been made with that well-worn phrase that sometimes accompanies in-class laptop use: “Please repeat the question.” There’s a transcript as well as the video here.

The well-worn phrase existed and continues to exist even in the absence of laptops! Students zone out.Incidentally, I allow laptops, but I rarely hear that phrase, maybe once or twice per quarter. And even then often by people without laptops. Usually it's when I'm having a group of students present something and I then turn to the rest of the class (i.e., they were zoning out while the other students were presenting).I liked the video, though. It makes me want to go check a few things out online :)
