This image has some quirks in its English – it was clearly created by a non-native speaker. But I think it does a decent job of highlighting a double standard people in the United States and Europe typically have. What do you think?

    Chollie: Way to skip over the complications and move straight to the generalities. There’s a vast difference between issuing standard uniforms for those who enter into a religious order, and the law that women must be veiled (which certainly does exist in many Islamic places, past and present; cf. Saudi Arabia).

    For what it’s worth a lot of nuns don’t wear the habit any more.  Depends on the order.

    • I am American and so I work with Muslims and am a fellow citizen with Muslims and interact with Muslims. And as it happens, it was a Muslim friend who shared this cartoon with me.
