Did God Want Obama to Win the Election? Will This Be on the Exam?

A colleague shared this on Facebook, suggesting that it would make for a good exam question in theology to ask students to carefully examine the underlying theological views and assumptions at play. What do you think?

  • Another Act of God: Obama was trailing when a financial crash occurred during his first campaign for election. That put Obama in front. By now, with acts of God in favor of Obama, at each of his campaigns for election, the rightists should know that God is for Obama!
    Joking, of course.

I think it’s impossible to know if, when, or why God would desire any particular person to win an election in any kingdom of the world, or whether and when He would manipulate events to secure such a result. Many who believe the Bible’s message recognize that He will eventually put an end to all kingdoms of the world and establish the Kingdom of God, which itself will endure forever.

“In the time of those kings, the God of heaven will set up a kingdom
that will never be destroyed, nor will it be left to another people. It
will crush all those kingdoms and bring them to an end, but it will
itself endure forever.” – Daniel 2:44
