Who Long?

Who Long? May 23, 2013

This year is the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who. And even with some hiatuses during that period, it has reached a grand total of almost 363 hours.

I’ve been rewatching the classic series, having started in 2011, and I still have a lot left…

Who is planning on rewatching the entire classic series this year, to celebrate the 50th anniversary?

How do you find access to the classic series? I’m trying to watch as much as I can. There’s a decent amount on Amazon and I believe on Netflix (about to pick up a subscription), but there still are substantial holes, aren’t there? The dvds are so expensive. Is there another outlet I don’t know about?

    • Have you tried your public library? Mine has so much!

Our library is great in many respects, but not in its collection of Doctor Who, unfortunately.

        • Well, I have occasionally come across whole episodes from the classic series that people have made available, and so if you are wanting to watch some Doctor Who, it is worth searching!

          • Your library may take requests. It would be quite expensive to get them all from Amazon.com!

Here are a couple of places that seem to have some classic episodes online:

And of course, there are always torrents and things like that.

            Thanks James,

I signed up for the Netflix DVD service and it was much better than I expected. I’m going to work my way through that (the 1 dvd at a time policy will make that take a while) and assess at that point. I’ll look at those links too to reduce the dvd rentals.

Yeah, the dvds are super expensive. I wish they’d offer digital purchasing like they do with the modern series. I’ve bought 5 of the seven seasons so far from Amazon and will buy the other two.

I’ve thought about requesting a few from our library anyways. Every good library should have some Doctor Who!

BTW, I started watching Doctor Who a little over a year ago because of your blog. I’m so glad I did.

          • Glad you’re enjoying the show!
