Phil Harland’s Associations

Phil Harland asked me to share (and AWOL also drew attention to) the book and other online resources about the ancient world that are available via his website. He writes:

Book info: Philip A. Harland. Associations, Synagogues, and Congregations: Claiming a Place in Ancient Mediterranean Society.  Second revised edition with links to inscriptions.  Kitchener, Ontario: Philip A. Harland, 2013. <>

The main advantage of this edition is that each of the inscriptions and sources mentioned is keyed to the new Associations in the Greco-Roman World sourcebook and there are direct, clickable links in the pdf to the corresponding inscription on the AGRW companion website (found here: …).  You simply click on an inscription number (e.g. IEph 1503) in the pdf and are brought to the description, Greek text, and a translation. There are also many, many new illustrations and figures (many in color).

Definitely worth checking out, even if you’ve explored it previously!
