    The welfare state is the opposite of charity, and I am not aware of any point in the NT Jesus came out in favor of it.

      The welfare state is the effective way of helping the poor, sick, old, children etc. Naturally, you’re against it. Jesus, as a man of his time, would have found the idea completely incomprehensible.
