Living in the ‘Let Go’

Living in the ‘Let Go’ January 15, 2015

Here we are at the beginning of the new year, and for many of us, it’s a time to evaluate what’s really important, anchor our priorities and set promising goals for the next twelve months. We might reach certain goals, while falling short of others, bringing feelings of disappointment, guilt, or self-blame. The goals that we do reach might cost us our sense of wellbeing if we carry any remnants of stress, anxiousness, worry, or anger into the process.

We’re so conditioned in Western Culture to think that we must place a lot of effort, time, and sacrifice into the equation of manifesting our dreams, but what if that’s not true? Of course we need to remain focused and intentional, but what if there’s a way to simply open to the vision in a way that doesn’t entail a frenetic energy of trying to make it happen?

Consider how an oyster over time creates the perfect pearl. Layer upon layer of nacre, also known as mother-of-pearl, coat a grain of sand until the iridescent gem is formed. In no way is the oyster trying to bring this pearl into fruition. It simply allows the natural process to have its way and this magnificent creation is formed. Imagine if the oyster got irritated because the sand was intruding into it’s shell and spent all it’s energy trying to get the sand out! What a stressful process this would be, and as a result, the oyster might never realize one of it’s innate gifts, to create the perfect pearl!

So how do we shift from trying to allowing? The more consistently that we anchor in a daily spiritual practice that instills within us a greater sense of mindfulness, we then begin to observe our thoughts, actions, and feelings more consistently and readily. Quieting the mind through some form of meditation allows Spirit’s highest vision to be revealed. We must then learn to trust that our “inner downloads” are in fact wise and reliable. When inner-guidance comes to us from a still and peaceful purview, it is usually pure and valid.

Allow yourself the quiet time daily to simply be still and listen. You can also ask for Spirit’s guidance in any particular situation and then anchor in the stillness and listen. From this place of let go, the Universe will always conspire for your highest good and reveal your perfect pearl!
