#OccupyFortBragg March 31st 2012 – bring blanket

Occupy Fort Bragg North Carolina

Foxhole Atheists are on the cusp of real change. We need your help. We need you to care.

We are the 20+%

We’ve been silenced, threatened, intimidated, and treated as ‘un-American’ for too long. The non-religious military community is the DoD’s second largest religious demographic, outnumbering the next largest group by two orders of magnitude.

Across the globe, non-theists in uniform are starting to seek each other out and shed the fear of discovery. The epicenter of the changing atmosphere is at Fort Bragg, NC. We’ve already been fighting for this to happen for a year now, and now the commanders are really listening.

Please – simply show up and stand with us at the Ft. Bragg Main Post Parade Field next Spring. This is an incredibly unique opportunity, and one that was unthinkable a few years ago. It may only happen this one time, but you’re all invited.

*note: we have nothing to do with the #OccupyWallStreet movement. But we totally approve of peaceful grass-roots activism as well as their snazzy presentation skills. Clearly we have occupied many of the same pools before they were closed, but no masks are needed at Fort Bragg. Stand up and be counted, leave Guy Fawkes at home. This is not a protest.*

What’s with the girl on the tank? It comes from the #OccupyWallStreet calling card from AdBusters.

I think it’s quite poetic and I wanted to pay tribute. To me the Bull represents the ‘greedy 1%’, while the woman seems to be emasculating his efforts by saying “You stupid bull. Let’s dance. Oh well, I’m dancing. Your life is sad, and we are stronger than you, bull-ies.”

But I could be way off, but it’s quite a striking image. Well done.

Awesome. I’d be there if I could, but I can’t. So, more power to you.

Any provisions going to be made for those of us who have separated from the military already? I got out 3 years back, and my wife got out 6 months ago. Neither of us has an ID anymore, and I’m not sure how Bragg does their access for events like this.

      Civilians are welcome!

Is that name from a recent episode of Doctor Who?

Well, I hope that I have an opportunity to make it there. But I really feel sorry for anyone who has never been to Fayettenam before…

I’d love to come, but I will be on my first deployment. Maybe I will be able to find a guitar and someone to play it on that day.
