Christian puppeteer / cannibal’s revolting facebook page

I suspect this will be taken down soon. For the moment, Ronald Brown's creepy public facebook profile is quite accessible. Ronald Brown is a puppeteer from Florida. He featured on the Christian Television Network's Joy Junction - inexplicably still on the air. This was Brown's last post before being arrested for conspiracy to eat children. Wow. Here is a picture he snapped at work in the 1980's. Blommin' times? This smiling boy is the saddest thing I found there. The effect … [Read more...]

Puppeteer’s TV show still on the air despite plot to eat children

Christian Television Network has a media crisis on it's hands now that one of it's children's entertainers has been arrested. Ronald Brown, a puppeteer on the network's long-running Joy Junction has been charged with conspiracy to kidnap and eat children. CTN completely fails at crisis management. According to The Tampa Bay Times: Brown worked for years for the Christian Television Network in Largo, the state's oldest Christian broadcasting station. He performed with puppets on a Captain … [Read more...]

Christian TV puppeteer arrested for plot to eat children

Ronald Brown, 57, was arrested in Largo, FL. He is accused of some really gruesome stuff, including plots to cook and eat a boy in his Sunday school class. I recognized him immediately from flipping through the channels, pausing to gawk at shows like his - Joy Junction - on the Christian Television Network. Here's a rather creepy clip from his show making the rounds: Tampa Bay Times has an incredible account on this developing story. Excerpt: Brown had ties to a wide array of … [Read more...]

Tampons and size 20 panties in the Marine Corps

Have you been the victim of the "Size 20 panties Marine Corps" copypasta? Well, one of the service members in the American Atheists Military facebook group has an amazing reply. The premise is that some male Marine opened a care package down-range. It was packed with feminine objects. He joked around with his fellow Marines using the various items. However, it turns out that those tampons were about to become really important in a life or death situation. The original spam concludes with a … [Read more...]

Air Force chaplain quits Southern Baptist Convention over gay wedding

On Friday, The Associated Press ran a story chronicling the fallout over the first gay wedding on a military base, at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst. Chaplain Col. Timothy Wagoner has abruptly left the Southern Baptist Convention, even though he didn't conduct the ceremony. A few days before the wedding, Col. Wagoner decided to attend as a show of support to the base community, and to Tech. Sgt. Erwynn Umali. Umali no longer has to hide his sexual orientation from his peers in the Air … [Read more...]

Removing Christian privilege from “God’s Army”

I made this in the hopes that it can be useful for removing that smug Christian privilege we occasionally see in the military. Usage: "You're so right. There are no atheists in foxholes. There are only good little Muslims." It's not 'islamophobic'. Rather, it plays off the target's standard xenophobia. The same xenophobia that causes them to say stupid shit about atheists in the first place. This foxhole atheist proudly serves with brave Christians, Buddhists, Wiccans, and Muslims … [Read more...]

Another military base hires civilians to proselytize to children

Chris Rodda has a great post about what is going on at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Alaska (a base that has been on MRFF’s radar for quite a while) is really ramping up the fundamentalist activities this fall, heavily pushing the “convert everybody” meme. The article on the Elmendorf-Richardson website begins: When Jesus gave his apostles their final orders in Matthew 28:18-20, he didn’t tell them to make converts who would dedicate an hour of … [Read more...]

Military funds marriage seminar by Pentecostal fans of Newt Gingrich

Fort George G. Meade, Maryland is a high-tech media-savvy military base. It's home to NSA, the new United States Cyber Command, and the largest joint Public Affairs training academy - Defense Information School (DINFOS). Fort Meade is a little brainier than most bases... So, how the hell did this happen? *If you want to see the original advertisement, click here before the Fort Meade official facebook page takes it down.* Mike and Trisha Fox run the website Marriage For Today, … [Read more...]

Why the US Military’s suicide statistics are dead wrong

I've seen way too many people regurgitate flawed stats regarding suicide rates in the US Military. It seems that the DoD and / or defense-policy think-tanks have created some palatable 'synthetic data'. Going back to the 2001-2008 time period, this study seems to be a typical example. It's from RAND, a large think-tank currently funded by the US Government and private endowments. Their biggest claim to fame is the 'mutually assured destruction' nuclear weapon strategy of the Cold War era. … [Read more...]
