My friend and fellow Foxhole Atheist, SGT Dustin Chalker wrote a new petition to end the military's mandatory Spiritual Fitness testing and training. He's asking all of you to sign it and spread the word. Dustin is one of the few like me who have taken our message directly to the media, demanding equality and justice. He bats away reporters questions about his multiple Purple Hearts and encounters with IED's. Dustin looks at this as a mere distraction to his desperate attempt to tell the … [Read more...]

Because these darned American Flags wont shred themselves

Quick start a Prayer Circle and ask for big-ass scissors!  I knew you could do it! What's (literally) wrong with this picture? Giant, bold Comic Sans [I swear it came like this] Judging from the pictures, everything but 'Emotional' is an outdoor activity. That emo guy in the bottom right corner represents resilience, a code word for not committing suicide. That emo guy in the bottom right corner is close to those big ass sharp scissors. An entire hour to do this: *SNIP* 'Meet me by … [Read more...]

Keep evangelism and politics out of my military funeral, sign this.

A few weeks ago, I wrote about the fabrication of a controversy surrounding military funerals for veterans in Texas (my home state). Three Congressmen from Texas are in the middle of a deceptive media blitz. They are ‘standing up for’ a few private groups who like to officially incorporate their Christian prayer and ceremonies at the funerals of military veterans. The problem is, well… there is no problem! There is no ban of mentioning 'God' or 'Jesus' at funerals for veterans. These … [Read more...]

Millions of taxpayer dollars used to convert soldiers and their children to Christianity

Chris Rodda wrote an extensive exposé on the amount of your taxpayer money being spent on converting soldiers and their children to Christianity. Your money. The Soldier Fitness Tracker that includes the mandatory Spiritual Fitness testing and the equally mandatory remedial training. $125,000,000 The Spiritual Fitness Center at Fort Hood, Texas (many more to come!) - Often described as a 'mega church', the building even has religious stained glass windows. They are stocked with … [Read more...]

Calling all foxhole atheists – fill out THIS version of the Spiritual Fitness test.

That's right, there is research being done into that offensive mandatory Spiritual Fitness testing and training. I was shocked at the test, and surprised that I was the first person to even call it out. Please fill out this new version of the test no matter if you are Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps... Active, Reserve, National Guard. If you are a CURRENT OR VETERAN U.S. Military service member: (Update: civilians can click here) CLICK HERE FOR THE NEW TEST U.S. Military Personnel and … [Read more...]

U.S. Army says: Spiritual people make better soldiers

I was shocked that I was the first person to 'break' the story of the Army's *mandatory* Spiritual Fitness testing, and the equally mandatory remedial training that comes with it when you fail. Hours of remedial Spiritual Fitness training - so that I don't commit suicide because I'm an atheist. So is 'Spiritual Fitness' about religion? There are two different and conflicting responses coming from DoD. One line paints a rosy picture where "Spiritual" means team spirit or human spirit.  … [Read more...]

Army Chaplaincy’s Spiritual Resilience e-book removed from Amazon

The Army's controversial mandatory Spiritual Fitness testing and training has left a trail of confused defenders who are not all on the same page. They didn't all 'get the script' when it comes to the constitutional implications of  their program. Some say Spiritual Fitness and its interchangeable pseudonym Spiritual Resilience, is merely referring to 'Team Spirit' or 'Human Spirit'.  Most of its proponents, however, correctly assert that the concept is firmly rooted in religion. Maybe this … [Read more...]

I was just on Fox News Radio…Kicking myself for not saying:

"Thanks for having me on the show. As you know, there are no atheists in fox news - so I really appreciate it!" Wistful thinking. Maybe next time. :) Anyway, I really do appreciate the Alan Colmes Show on Fox News Radio for having me on. They were kind enough to send me a copy of the segment. Alan started off with what many people expect to be a stumper, "I don't think either side should have events..." I couldn't agree more, but I don't have a time machine to stop Rock the Fort from … [Read more...]

Fort Bragg approves on-post atheist festival, Rock Beyond Belief

On March 31st, 2012, Fort Bragg will be hosting Rock Beyond Belief with the full support it was promised. This just might be the turning point in the foxhole atheist community's struggle for acceptance, tolerance and respect. It's an amazing time to be a non-believer in the U.S. Military on the cusp of a major break-through. The public is invited, free of charge, to see this revolution begin to bear fruit. Our key-note speaker, Richard Dawkins regularly draws crowds in the thousands, … [Read more...]

Eugenie Scott, Josh Rosenau, Donald Prothero support foxhole atheists

Our team is crashing the 2011 TAM - The Amazing Meeting - and we've snapped some pictures with some secular celebrities who support foxhole atheists and what we're doing here at Fort Bragg. I'll post them here and on Facebook, as they trickle back to me. First up was the TAM workshop: Defending Evolution in the Classroom and Beyond. Featuring Eugenie Scott, Joshua Rosenau, and Donald Prothero - this was a great way to kick off an amazing meeting. I wish I could have been there myself. … [Read more...]
