Atheism Ruining Military Careers!? pt. 1

This is going to be a 3 part series...so please stay tuned!    The fear is So many people have come to thank me for coming out as not only an atheist in the military but an activist as well. I've heard harrowing stories about how some people have had their careers completely sidelined due to the fact that they are atheists. I wanted to convey some of those stories now. When I am able and when those people are willing I will divulge that information. However, many … [Read more...]

Atheists are brave in war but not in life

According to some So sometimes I will listen to talk radio on the AM stations. You know, the ones that play Rush Limbaugh, Hannity, and the always comical Glen Beck. I don't actually listen to those shows most of the time because I feel like my brain is melting...but I do listen to some of the local shows. The local AM shows dial down the rhetoric and are sometimes quite informative...if not a bit too conservative for my tastes. Regardless I was listening to a station and they were talking … [Read more...]

What I’ve been up to

Deployment This last year has had its ups and downs for me and I've gone through quite a bit. I traveled to multiple different countries throughout the Western Pacific and the Middle East. Rock Beyond Belief secured a promise from the Marines to cease religious proselytization violations. I made new friends and severed some old relationships. And now I'm back in the United States of America. Here's a list of some stuff that's gone on in the last year:  I traveled to 7 different … [Read more...]

Top 30 terrible comments about atheist soldiers on FoxNews.com

Illegal modifications to a military chapel in Afghanistan were abruptly reversed thanks to American Atheists. They had installed the only known church steeple in Afghanistan, and cut giant crosses into the doors of the 'religiously neutral' building. At night, light would emit from the crosses on the doors, shining like a miniature searchlight. Yesterday, Fox News Todd Starnes wrote an article that piggybacked the excellent NBC coverage that broke the story. These comments were all posted … [Read more...]

US Military will not be building churches in Afghanistan

American Atheists just pulled off a huge win in Afghanistan. This is illegal: Kari Huus at NBC News reports: U.S. military commanders in Afghanistan on Thursday ordered the removal of a steeple and crucifix erected over a remote American base in the Muslim country after a soldier deployed there noted that the symbols violated Army regulations, and could reinforce suspicions that the United States is fighting a holy war. It is unclear how long ago the Christian symbols at the chapel at … [Read more...]

Heroic whistle-blower in Army’s mandatory candlelight prayer scandal

800 junior soldiers attended mandatory suicide-prevention training, and were given plastic battery-powered candles. A chaplain talked for a while, telling the soldiers they must turn to god to keep themselves going in tough times. Eventually he dimmed the lights and instructed everyone to turn on their candles. The chaplain then lead them in a sectarian prayer to his lord and his heavenly father. The vast majority of the 800 soldiers are fresh out of boot camp, and are being trained in the … [Read more...]

Marine Corps heavily supports a doomsday sect in CA, why?

SAN DIEGO, CA – Over the past decade, the local Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa has had unprecedented access to Marines at Camp Pendleton. Despite their controversial end-times message and history of sex scandals, the group has co-sponsored several high-profile concerts and other events with the approval of local Navy and Marine Corps commanders. Comprised of hundreds of congregations, Calvary Chapel is a large organization in crisis. Their founder, Chuck Smith, famously predicted the end of the … [Read more...]

Fort Gordon stops making soldiers do yard work for Catholics

I'd like to thank Fort Gordon, GA leadership for the rapid about-face. Only a week ago American Atheists and Freedom From Religion Foundation demanded that the US Constitution be upheld for soldiers attending the Advanced Leadership Course (ALC). Hundreds of soldiers were ordered to clean up a Catholic organizations yard - also known as "area beautification." This was off-post, during the duty day and in uniform. The time period this was supposed to take place was over several months! An … [Read more...]
