When you pray…

I'm defending the ConstitutionSomething that is always entertaining to me is when I am forced to partake in prayer for a military ceremony or during a family day even right before they let you start eating.I have found it amusing how other atheists and freethinkers have turned this event into an opportunity to find other like minded people. I honestly wasn't even aware that this was an opportunity to be taken advantage of until someone from a Facebook group pointed this out to … [Read more...]

Closeted Atheist Fears Spouse Will Leave Him

Living in fear...When I first came to the conclusion that I no longer accepted any established religion and¬†washed Christianity off my palate I was at a crossroads. I was an agnostic deist when my wife and I exchanged vows and within the first year of marriage I came to the conclusion through my studies (and prayers)¬†that there was no supreme being. My wife, however, had not altered her beliefs. Living in a state of perpetual fear that she would reject me for what I came to believe was s … [Read more...]

Unequally Yoked

So the thing is...Many people assume that since I am an atheist my wife is also an atheist. Nothing could be further from the truth. Now admittedly I am inconsiderate. I'm not too worried about stepping on people's toes but that isn't what makes a marriage work.My wife is a Christian and I am clearly a very active atheist. I've gotten a lot of trolling from some people stating I am going to burn in the eternal pits of hell because of my blatant disregard for any spiritual authority. Sure. … [Read more...]

Proselytizing in Afghanistan

Buddy Jesus wants you to spread the word! This is a pervasive problem within the US Military that I have had a major problem with for many years. The dangers behind this fundamentalist policy can be the actual loss of life to U.S. Servicemembers, many of whom (like myself) are not here to fight a religious battle.www.youtube.com/embed/hy5RnIykfCs?This is a video that was recorded in Afghanistan and shows how the Chaplain was giving them instructions on how to proselytize and what to say … [Read more...]
