Dangerous messages sent to kids on US Navy bases

The original photograph shows a large advertisement for a Vacation Bible School on a US Navy base. Transportation is included. Equality is not. I'm not sure which base this photograph came from, but it's far from an isolated incident. Here's a write-up in the Periscope, an in-house PR rag for Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay - built on coastal Georgia. “Up, up, and away!” This familiar phrase sets the tone the 2012 Vacation Bible School program.  The Command Religious Program of … [Read more...]

Fort Bragg’s Camp Quest is massive, Dawkins to meet with kids.

I asked Camp Quest, South Carolina's (CQSC) Amy Monsky for a schedule of her activities. I'm super impressed. Look at this thing, it represents so much work. Click to embiggen... this is pretty much amazing. So much is going on there! This is in addition to the 400 pounds of corn starch going into making the 'Oobleck' or non-newtonian fluid. We had to rent cement mixers for this. But kids will literally be able to walk on water (or sink if they stand still) right in front of the main … [Read more...]

Fort Bragg’s ban on atheist meetings wont apply this weekend

We broke so much ground last year, and attracted national media attention. We were on the cover of the New York Times, and when the Associated Press got hold of us - we were on the cover of hundreds of newspapers. All the while, the Chaplaincy's regulations were preventing us from meeting on post. We've had to meet in people's homes, often an hours drive for some members. And we are unable to collect donations the way the other religious preferences are allowed. I spent thousands in the first … [Read more...]

One of the things being offered is bound to teach a lasting lesson. 'Walking on water' is easy Check out this video of kids in New … [Read more...]
