Actually, calling Mikey Weinstein an atheist IS Defamation!

In the news Recently there has been a media flurry surrounding Mikey Weinstein and the Military Religious Freedom Foundation. Megyn Kelly, of Fox News, along with James and Shirley Dobson went on a verbal assault of Mikey and MRFF.  Claiming that Mikey was an atheist (he's not) and the MRFF was an atheist organization (it's not) .Now is this a problem? That all depends upon context. 'Atheist' is not defamation Actually...Before you can make an argument as to whether or not … [Read more...]

Reverend: “What does the military put on gravestones of atheists, a thumbs-down?”

The recent article about mandatory Spiritual Fitness in the Pasadena Sun was overall quite positive. Out of a group of 10 or so religious leaders from various religious preferences, the vast majority were on our side. I'm actually happy that only a few took a stand against us.One of them at least tried to pair his response with the US Constitution, but fell victim to the Army's smoke-screen 'this is about team-spirit' etc. I left a comment containing a thorough refutation. I invited … [Read more...]

Transcript of Army training reveals 83 instances of bypassing US Constitution

SGT Dustin Chalker, my friend and fellow foxhole atheist, wrote to me with exact figures from the mandatory Spiritual Fitness remedial training.Keep in mind, when reporters and lawyers are around - Spiritual Fitness is only about 'team spirit' and 'human spirit'. They emphatically declare that it has nothing to do with religion (clearly an admission that they understand such a thing would be illegal). This violates the No Religious Tests and Establishment Clauses of the U.S. … [Read more...]

My friend and fellow Foxhole Atheist, SGT Dustin Chalker wrote a new petition to end the military's mandatory Spiritual Fitness testing and training. He's asking all of you to sign it and spread the word.Dustin is one of the few like me who have taken our message directly to the media, demanding equality and justice. He bats away reporters questions about his multiple Purple Hearts and encounters with IED's. Dustin looks at this as a mere distraction to his desperate attempt to tell the … [Read more...]

U.S. Army says: Spiritual people make better soldiers

I was shocked that I was the first person to 'break' the story of the Army's *mandatory* Spiritual Fitness testing, and the equally mandatory remedial training that comes with it when you fail. Hours of remedial Spiritual Fitness training - so that I don't commit suicide because I'm an atheist. So is 'Spiritual Fitness' about religion? There are two different and conflicting responses coming from DoD.One line paints a rosy picture where "Spiritual" means team spirit or human spirit.  This is … [Read more...]

U.S. Army Wages War Against Foxhole Atheists (Anonymous guest post)

Anonymous guest post from a foxhole atheist disgusted with the climate of discrimination he faces. This article was making the rounds on the web, and I think it is eye-opening. (No, this is not me ghost-writing. Several people alerted me to it.) I don't want atheists to drop out of the military, or to avoid joining. We need more of you to stand up with us! But it is entirely understandable why this author has reached that conclusion.By anonymous; republished with permission. If you are a … [Read more...]
