Actually, calling Mikey Weinstein an atheist IS Defamation!

images-1

In the news Recently there has been a media flurry surrounding Mikey Weinstein and the Military Religious Freedom Foundation. Megyn Kelly, of Fox News, along with James and Shirley Dobson went on a verbal assault of Mikey and MRFF.  Claiming that Mikey was an atheist (he's not) and the MRFF was an atheist organization (it's not) .Now is this a problem? That all depends upon context. 'Atheist' is not defamation Actually...Before you can make an argument as to whether or not … [Read more...]

The Fog of War…

War_on_Christmas

Yep, here we are in the middle of December and as always, the War on Christmas is fully underway.Due to the efforts of those evil atheists and secularists and their attacks on Christianity, saying the words Merry Christmas is now illegal, which forced the great state of Texas to pass a state law guaranteeing a person's right to say Merry Christmas. What's that you say?  It's never actually been illegal to say Merry Christmas anywhere?  But what about that time I went shopping and the c … [Read more...]

I am now an “Enemy of the Republic” and my First hate mail

I guess people got a little heated over the removal of some plastic figurines from Shaw AF Base. Fox News Of course...Fox News ran with this story and Todd Starnes in all his brilliance made some "phone calls" to discover that removing the nativity display aboard Shaw AF Base was actually unconstitutional. Is this where I get to - "lol, smiley face"? Starnes is always good for a laugh. Shortly after his puff piece was published online I received an email from someone who apparently reposted … [Read more...]

UPDATED: Delusions of Relevancy…

UPDATE (original report below)Todd Starnes has produced a followup report where, despite an inaccurate and intentionally misleading headline, he exhibits a temporary bit of sanity by reporting exactly what I stated in my original report.  Starnes admits that the Army did not categorize the AFA as a hate group and that the slideshow presentation was locally produced without input from official policy or higher leadership.  Read for yourself here:Pentagon admits Christian ministry is not a … [Read more...]

The Chaplaincy Shortage and the Great Crock of BS

army-poster-600x398-620x320

Chaplains In order to become a chaplain there are a few requirements one must fulfill. And with the recent "controversy" surrounding these Chaplains being placed on leave without pay and whatnot I thought there needed to be some clarification. Some of the more right-wing disengenuous folks are trying to push this narrative that Chaplains are being forced out of the military and leaving service members without any 'spiritual support'.What I find interesting is that the same people bitching … [Read more...]

Unfair and Unbalanced..

If Fox News, self-purported to be “fair and balanced” while not being either fair or balanced, didn’t have such a large viewership/readership, I’d give their journalistic efforts no credibility and lump them in with World Net Daily and the other nutty news sources infesting the internet and radio waves.  However, they do have viewers, listeners, and readers, which means there is an unfortunately large number of Americans who believe this network actually produces real news  and relevant, thoughtf … [Read more...]

Another Marine Corps Controversy from the Same Unit that Believes Atheism is Cause for “risky behavior”

WP_000125

Atheism in the Marines As a Marine who is also an atheist this matter is very concerning to me. After publishing about the Marines classifying atheism as a "risky behavior" a Marine from H&S Battalion in Quantico reached out to me with this: I saw your blog entry about H&S Battalion in Quantico.  That specific unit has the most fundamentalist leadership, but I specifically blame the influence of this crusty old Roman Catholic Priest that was the chaplain there (I dunno if he still is, … [Read more...]

On Motorcycles and Vaginas….

This isn't related to atheism or the military, except as it relates to abortion restrictions and the fact that most of those restrictions are put in place by religious people who think they are doing the work of their god. When I first heard about North Carolina senate bill 353, I thought it was a joke right out of the Onion.  After all, who in their right minds would possibly think to link abortion restrictions to motorcycle safety?  Well, as it turns out, the North Carolina senate, that's w … [Read more...]
