I just missed the last chance to dance. How about you?

The Secular Student Alliance is the best 'chaptering' organization in our movement... by an extremely wide margin. The number of active chapters eclipses any other organization. Their numbers still continue to grow, and they even have groups at military academies, such as West Point. When I started the Military Atheists & Secular Humanists (MASH) movement in January of 2011, I was directly reading from their playbook. I think it's important to have at least one formal group for … [Read more...]

Christian calls my infant daughter “ugly”

Youtube user jorrillabear left this comment on a video of my daughter. "What an ugly baby" That was right after jorrillabear identified as being supportive of NC pastor Sean Harris - who told congregants to punch their gay children. First, jorrillabear's religious beliefs led to the endorsement of child abuse. Then jorrillabear's very next activity was to insult the physical appearance of a baby. What the fuck, over? First off - is it just me, or is Zoe actually not … [Read more...]

This is why CaTURDay is really just embarrassing

Animals are great. Memes can be fun. But look what happened to this one: http://www.youtube.com/embed/dKVI2_Dl00Y? and that was in 2008! Thanks for skipping Caturday this week, Jen! … [Read more...]

The Neverending Anti-Caturday

Screw crocoducks. Falcor is a freakin' dragodoodle. And he hates caturday. All apologies to Jen McCreight and Stormageddon (or whatever she named that cat)... Oh, it looks like she went with the name Pixel. I'm still not calling off my Falcor strike. Not as cool as a Luck Dragon, Jen! Although, that might change soon... I just found out that a remake of The Neverending Story is in the works for a 2014 release. Kinda wish I hadn't learned about it. Until then, I can smile like my pal, … [Read more...]

BlagHag plague hits close to home. PZ Myers has military backup

Today I noticed that PZ Myers courageously continued his fight against the caturday plague. PZ alerted all of us at FTB to the sinister plans of Jen McCreight who adopted a kitten over at BlagHag. Those freaking cat hairs stick to my uniforms, and I am declaring war. I bred these anti-caturday warriors myself. Sick 'em boys. Methinks it's a Courage Wolf! I was wondering what else could possibly be done to preempt the cute overload... But then it happened. My daughter, Zoe, … [Read more...]

Yes, we are aware that Fort Bragg hasn’t added us to their calendar (yet)

Thank you all for writing in so frequently. I wish I could respond to every letter I get, but I really do read them all. Please keep them coming - it's like a care package every day! Some of you have noticed that the Fort Bragg events calendar hasn't been fleshed out to include Rock Beyond Belief on March 31st, 2012. Relax, for now. I've specifically requested and was approved to get this and many other forms of public visibility from the base. We'll be on the various event calendars. Posters … [Read more...]

Have a Delicious Limited Public Forum and Eat it Too

The Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF) has recently released the following. I took these from my iPhone back in Easter while deployed in Afghanistan. I couldn't send them to my email until I got back from the deployment. These cakes were laid out in our combat Forward Operating Base dining facility during Easter, 2011. (name, rank, combat unit, military installation and MOS withheld) This is getting ridiculous. I've never seen John 3:16 proselytism via cake before. I'm pretty sure … [Read more...]

Jen McCreight’s Boobquake news footage

Recently, we added Jen McCreight to our lineup of speakers. She is a rising star in the secular and science online communities. That's been changing this year, though. She has been appearing in print and on TV, and is a welcome addition to the long list of important female non-theists. As with all of our guests, Rock Beyond Belief will be bringing you updates on Jen as well as her 'greatest hits'. This video falls in the latter category. You can keep up with Jen over at her influential blog, … [Read more...]

Jen McCreight of Boobquake and BlagHag fame, to speak at Rock Beyond Belief

BlagHag is Jen's popular blog. As an atheist, she faces a (reluctantly and self-aware) male-dominated blogosphere/lithosphere. Juggling a demanding college schedule (earning a PhD in Genome Science) and running a high-profile website is the norm for the 22 year old darling of the atheist community. Her posts alternate hard science with secular activism, spliced with the type of personal touch you'd expect from any blog worth it's salt. Responding to the ridiculous ramblings of Iranian prayer … [Read more...]
