Winnie The Pooh Would Be Sad

honey-jar

He can't take his honey from the hundred-acre wood to the United States without checking it. Honeygate? The whole point of honeygate, as it is now being called, was to point out the despoilment of our liberties. The voluntary despoilment. We are steadily giving up liberty for safety. Of course this was the perfect opportunity for some internet warriors to attack Dawkins. I'm not particularly interested in defending Dawkins as I do not think he needs my help nor do I feel obligated to help … [Read more...]

Secularism and Atheism

barry_lynn_medium

I suppose I really have to go there Apparently there is a great amount of confusion concerning the difference between atheism and secularism. Well, I'll help try and provide some education on the two. Recently, a guest blogger (Sarah Jones) on Libby Anne's "Love, Joy, Feminism" here on Patheos blogged about why she is not a secular activist even though she works for Americans United for the Separation of Church and State. First things first - she is equivocating. It is something that is … [Read more...]

With All This Free Time

It's been a long couple months I've been so busy and I was hoping my co-bloggers here could have had more of an opportunity to post while I was relocating and getting my life in gear. Now, I'm set up and ready to get some things done. I've got lots more free time to pursue my writing (both blogging and my books - which have nothing to do with atheism or the military). I'll be back on later today and all week giving you updates and just some general bullshittery. I'll leave you with … [Read more...]

Family Research Council and their Values Voter Summit

Here's a little clip that's interesting. It's the military panel put on by the hate-group FRC In it you'll notice the now exposed liar Senior Master Sgt Monk. The DOD recently brought out a report stating that he was not relieved of command or fired. He fabricated all the events that transpired as he was scheduled to PCS to another unit many many months prior to the supposed "event" having taken place. If you have 30 minutes to waste go ahead and watch this mindless drivel. Even if you … [Read more...]

The Chaplaincy Shortage and the Great Crock of BS

army-poster-600x398-620x320

Chaplains In order to become a chaplain there are a few requirements one must fulfill. And with the recent "controversy" surrounding these Chaplains being placed on leave without pay and whatnot I thought there needed to be some clarification. Some of the more right-wing disengenuous folks are trying to push this narrative that Chaplains are being forced out of the military and leaving service members without any 'spiritual support'. What I find interesting is that the same people bitching … [Read more...]

Christian Dominionists in the US Congress today….or a Book Review of “Christian Nation” by Fredric C. Rich?

images

This is my review of the book 'Christian Nation' The premise behind the book is that in the year 2008 John McCain gets elected to high office as the President of the United States. This of course would have made, the Tea Party favorite and Dominionist Christian, Sarah Palin the Vice President. At the very beginning of the book McCain takes a flight over to Russia to do some international diplomacy. While he is there he dies of a heart attack and in steps Sarah Palin as the … [Read more...]

Another Victory for Foxhole Atheists at Colorado Springs!

Air Force Academy In my last post I alerted everyone to a problematic email sent out by an Air Force Master Sergeant. The Air Force has capitulated away from¬†unconstitutional official policy and have agreed to, once again, allow graduating cadets to omit the "oath to god" from their Creed. I, (state your name), having been appointed a (rank) in the United States (branch of service), do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States … [Read more...]

When Religion and Politics mix…When the media fails to report…When we don’t understand why…

Media Coverage I suppose the first thing to cover is the fact that no national¬†American media source is willing to cover what is going on in today's political arena with the audacity that, say, Walter Cronkite would be able to do. If you click the link you'll find the story about how a single reporter changed the American perception (or at least the middle class' perception) of the Vietnam War. It probably wasn't a popular thing to do, but he had integrity and stuck with the truth. I'm sure … [Read more...]

Schedule for the Future

kathleen johnson

Sucks My schedule for the foreseeable future is extremely busy. After the next week or so no more blogging, no more updates via social media, and no more activism. I've got a big thing in the Marines going on where I won't have access to phone or internet for about 5 weeks and then a cross-country move. I'm relocating into the Great Lakes area and once I get settled in and have the family taken care of I will jump right back into the fray. Fortunately, there isn't going to be a gap involved … [Read more...]

Out for the count

I'm going to be gone for awhile. Unfortunately some very serious things involving work have come up and I am going to be putting in some overtime. I'll be on when I can. I hope some of my peeps pop on here for some fun blogging time as well. This is going to take away from my activism all around. I hope it doesn't last much longer than a week or two. … [Read more...]
