Christian Dominionists in the US Congress today….or a Book Review of “Christian Nation” by Fredric C. Rich?

This is my review of the book 'Christian Nation'The premise behind the book is that in the year 2008 John McCain gets elected to high office as the President of the United States. This of course would have made, the Tea Party favorite and Dominionist Christian, Sarah Palin the Vice President. At the very beginning of the book McCain takes a flight over to Russia to do some international diplomacy. While he is there he dies of a heart attack and in steps Sarah Palin as the … [Read more...]

Another Victory for Foxhole Atheists at Colorado Springs!

Air Force AcademyIn my last post I alerted everyone to a problematic email sent out by an Air Force Master Sergeant. The Air Force has capitulated away from¬†unconstitutional official policy and have agreed to, once again, allow graduating cadets to omit the "oath to god" from their Creed.I, (state your name), having been appointed a (rank) in the United States (branch of service), do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against … [Read more...]

When Religion and Politics mix…When the media fails to report…When we don’t understand why…

Media Coverage I suppose the first thing to cover is the fact that no national¬†American media source is willing to cover what is going on in today's political arena with the audacity that, say, Walter Cronkite would be able to do. If you click the link you'll find the story about how a single reporter changed the American perception (or at least the middle class' perception) of the Vietnam War. It probably wasn't a popular thing to do, but he had integrity and stuck with the truth.I'm sure … [Read more...]

Schedule for the Future

kathleen johnson

Sucks My schedule for the foreseeable future is extremely busy. After the next week or so no more blogging, no more updates via social media, and no more activism. I've got a big thing in the Marines going on where I won't have access to phone or internet for about 5 weeks and then a cross-country move. I'm relocating into the Great Lakes area and once I get settled in and have the family taken care of I will jump right back into the fray.Fortunately, there isn't going to be a gap involved … [Read more...]

Out for the count

I'm going to be gone for awhile. Unfortunately some very serious things involving work have come up and I am going to be putting in some overtime. I'll be on when I can. I hope some of my peeps pop on here for some fun blogging time as well. This is going to take away from my activism all around. I hope it doesn't last much longer than a week or two. … [Read more...]

A short history of RBB, A bit of the future, and a toast to selflessness

It's been really annoying after returning from this final deployment because all the computers I had access to prior were no longer around. So that's been a real doozy. There are also a lot of things going on personally with me as well that have kept me from putting as much time and effort into RBB, which is unfortunate because this is a very important movement. I inherited RBB from Justin Griffith and have taken the lead on it. It was never my intent or end-goal, but it was something I just … [Read more...]

The busyness of business

This seems appropriateIt seems like some of us have that figured out. Fortunately, I don't. I hope it stays that way. I've been real busy lately talking to reporters, calling individuals in the military about religious violations, and putting my two cents in with some members of Congress about the upcoming vote for the National Defense Authorization Act (section 530) as well as the Chaplaincy. If there are other people that actually want to make a difference hit me up here. Check out … [Read more...]

Only a Sith…

"You're with me or you're against me" Recently, I've been contemplating speaking my mind on this subject. Actually for a long time. It's rather upsetting in a community that is supposed to adhere to the values of skeptical inquiry, scientific analysis, and rational questioning that we are required as a matter of principle to abandon the aforementioned principles in favor of mindlessly following the ravings of PZ Myers and Co. It's something I've never quite understood or grasped and could never … [Read more...]
