Jesus & 50 Shades of Grey.

The story is told of a woman who lived in a nation that bordered another nation. The other nation had checkpoints at the border. Every day, she rode her motor-scooter to one of border crossings to get to the other side. And every day she’d return through the same border crossingThe guard at that station took his job seriously and he diligently inspected all of the many canvass bags she carried with her on her scooter. He could tell she was up to something, but he could never find any c … [Read more...]

Mother’s Day is for Peace.

Mothers-Day-Peace

Mother’s Day.Numerous companies are making copious amounts of money this week because of all of the greeting cards, flowers, jewelery, and  special meals that are being purchased to help us celebrate our mothers. That’s fine and all. But, unfortunately, as the years have passed the original meaning and intentions behind this wonderful day have become lost in the shuffle and in the rabid frenzy to buy things. The day has sadly lost its subversiveness and radicality and has become reduced to th … [Read more...]

Mardi Gras, Sodomy, & Us: the sodomites among us – tend to be us.

Mardi-Gras-2011

I see sodomite people.Mardi Gras. Fat Tuesday. Shrove Tuesday. The day before Ash Wednesday - the beginning of Lent. A time for living with passion, vim and vigor, and for zealously sucking the marrow out of life. It’s also a time when some folks feel a need to wag their fingers. The bear had to bear the burden of having to hail a cab to escape the hail in order to bail out her friend who was charged with bailing a swamped canoe in the swamp that wasn't … [Read more...]

http://wallpoper.com/images/00/27/21/92/nuclear-bomb_00272192.jpg

A proposal that may help secure world peace. Our nation is currently in negotiations with Iran regarding their pursuit of nuclear energy. We, and Israel, are concerned about Iran eventually seeking to create nuclear weapons as an extension of those efforts. The clock is ticking and we really only have 6 months left to get this resolved -- as after that, we may never know what Iran has truly been up to.Therefore, I propose the following win-win resolution to this conflict. Call Iran's bluff. … [Read more...]

“Band-Aids Aren’t Enough!” – Progressive Christian Social Justice

It's an election year in the U.S. and and since Christians comprise the majority of the electorate, it is largely Christians who will determine the winners of those elections -- and the direction that our nation takes. How, and whether, we vote matters. I've long since given up aspirations of running for elected office, but I am an engaged citizen and I feel called to share how Christian values and perspectives inform politics and social policy. The following is a message that I wrote and … [Read more...]
