I found this press release and thought the information could shed some light on the practical application of Scientology to the kinds of things each of us face in our lives.
At the Nashville Church of Scientology, it is routine to see parishioners studying in classrooms, discovering tools to help them in various areas of life—such as learning moral values, how to better communicate, how to improve relationships and so forth—but what you don’t always hear are the incredible success stories which follow.
Annie Kananack has one such story. “Eight years ago my husband passed away and I was left to raise four boys, 5, 7, 9 and 11 years old, without a partner. I turned to the Life Improvement Courses for help,” she says.
The Life Improvement Courses contain tools for the most vital and sometimes troubling portions of life. There are twenty courses in total and each comes with a workbook that contains all the material for the course. Each was designed to make study as effective and efficient as possible, with plenty of practical exercises that help a person to apply the material immediately to their life situation.
Rev. Brian Fesler, pastor of the church said, “We offer these courses to the most basic problems people face in life—how to get motivated, overcoming ups and downs, knowing who you can trust, how to achieve your goals. These help a person in daily life for sure, and are vital on the path to spiritual enlightenment.”
Kananack agrees: “As a parent, I found solutions to every scenario I could run into on [this] course,” Kananack says of the Successfully Parenting Tweens and Teens Life Improvement course. “A mom raising four boys alone in a crazy world should have experienced an enormous amount of stress, but the stress levels were kept under control because I had access to solutions that worked.”
The Life Improvement Courses are based on the work of L. Ron Hubbard, the founder of the Scientology religion, who once said, “Scientology is different mainly because one doesn’t have to believe in it to have it work… and Scientologists only ask people to look for themselves.”
