Goals… I have to have them. I’m the type of person who finds it hard to function without them.

Let be more specific. Since going on vacation to Hawaii three weeks ago, I’ve had little to no desire lately to workout or eat anything moderately healthy. We of course enjoyed our vacation and ate all the good food we could during our trip but that vacation mindset hasn’t stopped since returning to Dallas. I’ve been shoveling pizza and burgers in my mouth like it’s my job lately, all while my gym locker is accumulating cobwebs. I haven’t really given this bad food/no exercise mentality much thought until today when I wondered to myself why I couldn’t seem to get motivated to start living healthy again. The answer for me was goals.

I had spent a couple of months working hard in the gym and eating healthy food before our trip to Hawaii because I had set a goal to get in great shape for the trip. Now that we’re back, I realized I don’t have a goal and therefore don’t have something to work for. This might seem silly to some, but it’s just the way my mind works. I need something to strive for. And of course this applies to all aspects of my life: finances, spiritual growth, marriage, etc.

So to stop my binge-eating/no exercise ways, I’ve created a new goal. It’s nothing overly exciting or monumental, but it’s something I can look forward that will give me the motivation I need to push myself in the gym and keep Dominos off my speed dial.
