"The Identical” is an odd film. The fictional story is that identical twin sons were born to a poor young couple in the rural south in the middle of the Great Depression, William (Brian Geraghty) and Helen Helmsley (Amanda Crew). Then he asks for prayers for his wife, Louise (Ashley Judd), because she has just miscarried again and the doctor t … [Read more...]

“Haters of the Lost Ark” Jon Stewart finds “God” in “Noah”

Noah-Movie-poster

I must say that Jon Stewart takes some of the bite out of the controversy about filmmaker Darren Aronofsky's film "Noah" that came out on March 28.  Stewart's commentary and his choice sound bites from some commentators are nothing less than hilarious. By the way, "Noah" made almost $200 million worldwide already meaning that many people have gone to see it and are most likely talking about it and perhaps reading the Bible to check out the Book of … [Read more...]

Seven-deadly-sins-1

Yes, it is finished. The fifth volume in the series Lights, Camera Faith by my co-author Peter Malone, MSH and me. Click here to see the other volumes. And it's not like Peter didn't do his work: he was finished long ago. I was the one who got behind and involved in many other projects. And gave in to writer's block when all it took was a clean desk and the will to do it! So the manuscript is off to the editor. Sure there will be corrections and other steps but the … [Read more...]

The “Apostles Creed” in Hollywood … it keeps coming up

Rublev-Trinity 200px

A few years ago, in early 2006, Jonathan Bock, the president of Grace Hill Media, a firm that markets major motion pictures to the faith audience, arranged for a panel presentation about Christianity to both the Los Angeles and New York administrative and creative support teams for New Line Cinema. New Line Cinema had just signed on to produce "The Nativity Story," and there was interest in making sure everyone involved understood what this story would mean to millions of viewers. Jonathan asked … [Read more...]
