* The intro to this track, with Julianna Hatfield screaming "I just want a bit part in your life," would make an excellent ring tone.

Man, I had forgetten all about Julianna Hathead.

I have always wanted to have the hooting of a Great Horned Owl as my ring tone. Great in meetings.

Word up. It’s the code word. No matter where you say it, you know that you’ll be heard.

    After Eleven, “Beach Tags”

Um, creepy. I’m listening to “Lover, you should have come over” while reading this.
Maria McKee – I had forgotten about her. Is that recent music? (I don’t keep up…)

  • pansauce

    Timeno,
No, it’s from her eponymously titled 1989 CD. Her recent stuff (Peddlin’ Dreams and Live in Hamburg) is good though.

Isn’t that Garbage song actually called #1 Crush? I was actually discussing it with someone the other day.

Have you heard the new Hold Steady album, Fred? It’s accessible, songcrafty indie-rock, it’s the best new non-hip-hop album I’ve heard this year, and pretty much every song is in some way about faith and Christianity. There have been two articles about them in the Village Voice (plus xgau gave it an A-), neither of which your comments area is letting me link to, but they’re easy to find. Check it out, if you get the chance — I’d be very interested to read what you think of it.

I thought the Garbage track was called “Number One Crush.” I saw a stripper dance to it on Saturday.
