Worth a shot: Anybody need someone to teach computer science, logic, and philosophy in an advanced high school setting?
Don’t know where you might be looking or your experience, but you might try the Lower Merion School District in Montgomery County, PA. Very affluent area with two high schools near the top in academics in the US
I’m a database processor in the chicagoland area. Experience with Access, multiple proprietary systems, all for a large medical advocacy nonprofit. I have a BA in nonprofit administration, and I’m hoping someone needs those admin and data management skills.
My boyfriend’s also looking. Navy vet and security professional looking for a change. He’s in the ‘just about anything’ category. He’s looking for an opportunity.

Longtime lurker, first-time poster… My company has a number of openings for some IT roles in Miamisburg, Ohio, mostly with program management experience. The positions they’re trying to fill are pretty senior, so it might be a good fit for an older IT person who’s been told they’re “overqualified” for more junior roles.

I’m in Vancouver, B.C., and I recently graduated with a Library & Information Technology diploma. I’m looking for anything in libraries or information management – do you have any kind of collection that needs organizing/cataloguing? I have experience in academic and special libraries, but am more than willing to branch out.
If anyone is in central/west Indiana, the college I work at recently sent around emails advertising 2 administrative assistant positions.
A lot of universities are hiring. It’s not just faculty. Most have more openings for staff jobs. Check their websites and click on jobs. I’ve seen openings for things rangingfrom Major Gifts Co-ordinators to office clerks.
My company, in the Washington DC area, has several open positions in health behavior research. These range from data collectors to research assistants to project directors. The job listings are here: http://www.westat.com/careers/index.cfm
Sigh….I had an opportunity come by but it flew away. Job-hunting is more depressing than ever after almost having a real happy ending.
Boston area, looking for publishing industry work of any kind, or any administrative/data-entry/secretarial work. Also looking for retail or other hourly. Really anything will do if it’s a job…
Not a job, but its an emergency so I’m posting here. My brother lives in Bloomington Indiana, and his lease on his apartment ends this Friday, and he had another place, but it fell through. Does anybody know of a place for rent in the area? He doesn’t have a car, so it would need to be close to where he works/goes to school, the Wendys on college mall road and ivy tech, respectively. Email me at email@example.com if you know of anything. And, fuck it, if anybody in the area has a truck he could load his bed and desk etc on, let me know too. May as well.
Oh, he may have found a place, but needs a roommate. So if you need a roommate, let me know, or you can email him directly at firstname.lastname@example.org
I don’t know if this will lead to anything, but I’m in the Minneapolis area and I need an entry level job. I will take anything short of fast food. I have a Bachelor’s of Arts and Science from University of North Dakota (graduated with honors). I’d prefer data entry or office assistant but I also do editing, nannying, home care, customer service, theatre work, or practically anything you need done. My email is email@example.com
I’m in the Chicago area. I just graduated with a Master’s in psychology (specializing in human computer interaction) and I’m looking for nearly anything I can get. Something in a research related area would be nice since I’ve got experience there already, but I would appreciate data entry/office work too.
I’m In the Tampa Bay area with a Master’s in psychology. Something in research would be nice, but open open to anything I can get.
New to the Minneapolis area, looking for work to save me from an office job.
I have an MA in Sociology and a wide variety of research, writing, and teaching experience. I’m also an amateur photographer, costume designer, and performer. I can do a lot of things, and I can learn to do anything. I draw the line at food service and drug dealing; everything else is negotiable.
Another long-time lurker, who just had three days of training to find out I wasn’t hired. I live in Brighton, England, and have two years’ experience in the fields of retail and customer service, as well as some office work. I’m looking for work in those areas, as well as anything else apart from drug dealing or being an escort.
Our company, in the northwest Dallas area (Coppell), is looking to fill an Administrative Assistant position. “Candidates must have excellent customer service, organizational skills and communication skills. An Associate’s Degree is preferred but not required.” Shoot me an email at “dave dot pooser at alfordmedia dot com”
I’m looking for work in non-profit communications or development world–I have two years experience. Would prefer to be in DC, but will consider just about anywhere.
I’m an environmental scientist in Portland, Oregon. Most of my career has been in the SF Bay area, and I’ve been unemployed since February 2010. I do biological surveys, endangered species monitoring, habitat assessments, and restoration work. Permitting and all the rest. I’ve tried to keep up with some volunteering work since I got laid off, but it is SO hard to stay motivated and active. I have two kids and a very busy wife, and am trying to get into OSU’s distance learning Graduate Certificat program for Fisheries Management.
Anybody know someone who can help?
The Brightsource Solar project is due to start extensive bio monitoring work the first week of September. It’s nowhere near Portland, actually 40 miles south of Las Vegas, but they’re looking to employ 150 monitors for at least a couple of months. Sundance Biology and Kiva Biological Consulting are the leads on the bio front, and there are more solar energy projects already in line after this one.
(I lived in Portland for fifteen years, and only moved away to find work. Still regret that decision.)

I just found a neat resource from another blog I read about public transportation here:
Quite a few jobs posted in areas around the country for traffic engineers and the like, it might help out someone reading here.
Massage therapist and caregiver (CNA2, they call it in Oregon), here. There have been times in the past when I got few calls for massage, but it bothers me a lot that people seem to be “cutting back” on in-home care for the frail and elderly.
We really need to reform our health care system. Too bad that certain elements seem eager to throw a floundering system an anvil.
