The land shall not be sold in perpetuity, for the land is mine; with me you are but aliens and tenants. Throughout the land that you hold, you shall provide for the redemption of the land.

    A very apt metaphor for who and what we are on this planet.

    I don’t believe, obvs, but I rather like the humbling notion that perhaps we humans aren’t meant to be globe-trotting conquerors, but rather with the intelligence and skills our species has, we have the ability and responsibility to be careful and cautious as we make use of what this world provides for us.

    Yes, but clearly when God is talking about redemption, he means Satan rules the land and it’s the responsibility of Christians (even though this is the Torah; we all know that Jews missed the boat with Christ) to evangelize and convert sinners over to God’s way.
