When Political Correctness Becomes Deadly

When Political Correctness Becomes Deadly July 28, 2015

I get so frustrated when I constantly hear stories about how terrible Christians really are.  Culture so often depicts us as hypocritical, dumb, uncaring, and arrogant. These same cultural elites go out of their way to defend other religious people, particularly Muslims, as misunderstood, mislabeled, and ultimately good.

This is beyond outrageous. I’m all for religious people being depicted fairly. But when lives are on the line and political correctness smites Christians while gingerly tip-toeing around Muslims, our society has reached peak absurdity.

A recent story out of the United Kingdom, illustrates this point:

Muslim doctors and nurses are to be allowed for religious reasons to opt out of strict NHS dress codes introduced to prevent the spread of deadly hospital superbugs.

The Department of Health has announced that female Muslim staff will be permitted to cover their arms on hospital wards to preserve their modesty.

This is despite earlier guidance that all staff should be ‘bare below the elbow’ after long sleeves were blamed for spreading bacteria, leading to superbug deaths.

The move contrasts with the case of nurse Shirley Chaplin, who last week lost her discrimination battle against Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital Trust, which said the cross she has worn since she was 16 was a ‘hazard’ because it could scratch patients.

So let me get this straight:  A Muslim doctor is allowed to wear long sleeves that might expose a patient to a superbug that could potentially kill them, but a Christian nurse can’t wear a cross because a patient MIGHT get scratched?

How absurd are these double standards?  They aren’t even trying to hide their religious biases anymore.  And the results could be deadly.
