The following story epitomizes all that is wrong with America’s politically correct culture: An 18-year veteran for Pittsburgh’s WTAE-TV news was fired because she commented on how frustrating it is to witness so much black-on-black crime.

Well, it was one heart-felt post on Facebook about that very subject that landed Wendy Bell in hot water with her bosses. They overlooked the fact that she had won 21 regional Emmy Awards for the station and her dedication to her job and decided to “end its relationship.” In a public statement, WTAE-TV said the anchor violated “the company’s ethics and journalistic standards.”

Bell spoke to the Associated Press shortly after and said she didn’t get a “fair shake” from her employer. She also further defended her post:

“It makes me sick. What matters is what’s going on in America, and it is the death of black people in this country… I live next to three war-torn communities in the city of Pittsburgh, that I love dearly. My stories, they struck a nerve. They touched people, but it’s not enough. More needs to be done. The problem needs to be addressed.”

And because the PC culture has run amok, Bell was expected to issue an apology, which said:

“I now understand that some of the words I chose were insensitive and could be viewed as racist. I regret offending anyone. I’m truly sorry.”

What a shame that this is what America has become: a place where you can’t speak freely and a journalist can’t report facts without facing sever repercussions.

Bell’s post had to be deleted, of course,  but a screenshot captured her post. Read for yourselves the “horrible” things she said:
