Viewers noticed these 2 surprising things on stage at the Democratic National Convention July 28, 2016

The Democratic National Convention was in full swing this week in Philadelphia, its stage full of the biggest names in politics and Hollywood. But there were a couple of things that happened on stage that raised eyebrows.

  1.  You’ve Got Mail!

The expanse behind the podium was a wall of video screens. Various graphics appeared behind each speaker, helping to set their tone. But one image had everyone scratching their heads, particularly when Sen. Elizabeth Warren was at the microphone:

Everyone seemed to wonder if those were mailing envelopes. It sure looked like it. Tweets poured in, mocking a “tone deaf” DNC, urging them to “fix that” before Hillary Clinton took the stage.

But there was something missing from the stage on day one that wasn’t funny at all: American flags.

Unlike the Republican National Convention stage which was filled from left to right with American flags, the DNC stage was glaringly absent of them the first day. The Daily Caller noted this strange phenomenon from the floor of the convention:

The Daily Caller is at the Democratic National Convention and it doesn’t look like there are any American flags.

The stage is bland and grey, with no red, white or blue present. A thorough look at the crowd present also turns up no American flags.

See for yourself:

Contrast that with the RNC stage:

Hard to miss all that patriotism!
