When a leader of the New Black Panther Party says Donald Trump is right about black people’s relationship with the Democratic Party, it’s hard not to pay attention.

Houston’s NBP leader Quanell X recently spoke on a local Fox station and said he agrees with Trump’s assessment that Democrats have largely mistreated blacks and passed policies that ruined black neighborhoods. He said it’s time blacks realize they’ve been “pimped like prostitutes” for far too long:

“Let me say this to the brothers and sisters who listened and watched [Trump’s speech in Milwaukee]. We may not like the vessel that said what he said, but I ask us to truly examine what he said, because it is a fact that for 54 years, we have been voting for the Democratic party like no other race in America.

“And they have not given us the same loyalty and love that we have given them. We as black people have to reexamine the relationship — where we are being pimped like prostitutes, and they’re the big pimps pimping us politically, promising us everything and we get nothing in return.”

Quanell X suggests blacks “look at all the parties and vote our best interests.”

The NBP leader said having a black president hasn’t helped the plight of black Americans in the slightest:

“Barack Obama, our president, served two terms. The first black president ever. But did our condition get better? Did financially, politically, academically, with education in our community, did things get better?

“Are our young people working more than what is was before he came into office? The condition got worse. So now we as black people have to do and remember what the honorable Elijah Mohammed said. No politician can save the black community; we’ve gotta do it ourselves.”

It’s about time somebody mentioned self-reliance. That’s something the Democrats NEVER encourage. They want black America to rely on THEM and their promises. But it’s not for the betterment of the black community; it’s just buying votes.

It’s not every day that a New Black Panthers member says something sensible, but he’s right about this.
