In the Pink

And you thought only the priests wore pink on Laetare Sunday…
Hat Tip to Obnoxiously Pious, who tells us that the sisters in question are Adoration Sisters of the Holy Spirit.
Do they know about the noble wife in Proverbs 31? Verse 22 says ‘she is clothed in fine linen and purple.’

What a wonderful icon of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in the back. We in Malaysia have a very great devotion to Our Lady of Perpetual Help whose cult was made known and promoted by the Redemptorists in whose Church in Rome the original miracle working icon hangs.

ahhhh … “the pink sisters!” I love the pink sisters. I don’t know where all this order is stationed, but the ones we have here in St. Louis are at Mount Grace (www.mountgraceconvent.org) In fact, since Cardinal Rigali used to be archbishop of St. Louis, I wonder if that’s where this was taken? When Pope John Paul II was scheduled to visit St. Louis after his trip to Mexico in January 1999, the nuns prayed earnestly for good weather. St. Louis in January can be very unforgiving – near zero temps, ice storms, you name it. When His Holiness arrived, we had sunny skies and mild spring-like temperature! :) love those nuns.

My friend Angela who used to answer the prayer request line for pink sisters here in St. Louis says they can also be found in: Argentina; Brazil; Germany; India; the Netherlands; the Philippines (6 houses); Poland; Togo; and in Philadelphia; Lincoln, Nebraska; & Corpus Christi, Texas. Just in case y’all were wondering.
