Urbi et Orbi

The crowds at the Vatican for the Pope’s Easter message Urbi et Orbi numbered around 100,000. Link here for the text. The beautiful thing about the message is that it is an uncompromising re-affirmation of the resurrection, and as such, is not only for the world’s Catholics, but for all Christians of faith and good will.

The Resurrection isn’t enough any more. The Jesus Family Tomb folks don’t deny the Resurrection–they just think he died again later, like Lazarus. So, I think we should adopt the Easter greeting of the Eastern Christians: “He is risen!” And change the response to “And ascended!”

I watched Easter Mass and Urbi et Orbi on sat TV and it just makes me think…”People of every tongue and tribe and nation!”Ah ecstasy. It’s good to be Catholic.
