Bradford on Avon

The ancient Saxon church in Bradford on Avon, Wiltshire. I first visited this church as a student at Oxford, while on Easter break. Little did I know that I would come to live in Chippenham–just a ten minute drive from Bradford on Avon some years later.
On my way to Downside Abbey on retreat, I would often stop and visit this little church. It’s been restored beautifully, has terrific atmosphere, and is one of the great little treasures of England.

You’ve included what would have been on my list of favorite churches. I’ve always thought this was an exquisite little jewel.

We intended to visit this church in Bradford on Avon during our trip to the Cotswolds a few years ago. Alas, traveling with toddlers means that plans change at the last minute and you can’t fit everything in on your agenda. We also didn’t get to spend as much time in Bath as we had hoped.Oh well, it’s a good excuse to return in a few years once all the kids are older.
