Dear God, my favorite religious bloggers are morphing into political junkies. Yes Lord, I know that they have free will and there’s only so much you can do, but Caeser’s goings-on are boring to me and usually end up disappointing me with shallow, unfulfilled promises related to this world. Please inspire my favorite religious bloggers to write about stuff more interesting to me, like the giant peach, catholic schools, sand cathedrals, or the assumption. The happenings of those silly episcopalians are always fun! In Jesus name I pray, Amen

The more Catholic blogging about Politics the better. What’s the point of our faith if it does not meet reality and become inculturated. It remains no more than an elite hobby. The Politics Arena is a vacuum devoid of Christian input at the moment. It`s being commandeered by Liberals with no ideas, no principles, no integrity and no spirit of Discipleship. Totalitarianism with a caring smile…Yuk. In fact: Fr Longenecker for President. Seconded, anyone ?

I just saw Biden on meet the press. I am rapidly turning against Palin-Mccain. Palin, apparently, is too scared to go on meet the press and talk to Tom Brokaw.I think Biden is right. Abortion is immoral and wrong for all catholics, period, end of statement. I would take that a step further and say that it is immoral and wrong for non-catholics too. But is it murder before there is a human soul? I don’t think so. And since we’ll never know when a soul is present we do not know how to criminalize early abortions. That is what Pelosi was trying to say, I think, and what St. Augustine was addressing.Since I’m not likely to know when the human soul is imparted to an embryo in this life, I am quite leery, and indeed very afraid, of letting some Assemblies of God evangelical small town mayer and small state governor appoint my supreme court justices. Particularly one who tries to fire her ex-brother-in-law on some kind of vendetta through surrogates. Or one who ended up doubling her town’s debt as mayor, or one who lied at the convention about giving up the bridge to nowhere voluntarily. It’s not that hard to be a governor with a massive oil surplus to spend in the wake of a bunch of corrupt hooligans who had to be thrown out.Listen to the Moose. Overturning a bad supreme court decision is not the only thing this election is about. It’s also about a candidate who supported an unjust war, promises 100 years of war, and who’s party massively increased the debt of this country.

Marcus, the distinctions you are making about a human soul entering the body reveals your ignorance of Catholic teaching. So does your idea that it is possible for an abortion to be an immoral act, but that it does not need to be criminalized.Para 365 of the CCC states that the human soul and the human body are a unity. As soon as the body begins to exist the soul and body are one. The ‘ensoulment’ happening later in a pregnancy was an idea in some of the some early church fathers due to their ignorance of human biology.Paragraphs 2270 and 2271 of the CCC state the Catholic Church’s teaching on the immorality of abortion very clearly. Para 2273 states that it is part of a civilized society to legally protect the unborn’s right to life. Catholic politicians are obliged to do all within their power to effect this kind of moral society. Not to do so is to cause scandal. The seriousness of scandal is outlined in paras. 2287. In the paragraphs on scandal the Church outlines clearly that those who make laws or effect laws that either cause or allow others to sin are guilty of the grave sin of scandal, and that they will be held responsible. You should get down your CCC and read it, and when you’re done, send a copy to Biden and Pelosi
