Dinner with JP

It is one of our great sadnesses that our good friends Joseph and Susannah Pearce live here in Greenville and we see very little of them. Joseph is busy writing and traveling. He has a very busy speaking schedule, and Susannah is busy with two young children, and we simply do not get together as much as we’d like.

Nevertheless, Joseph and I booked in some time together this evening and had a great time at a local eatery called Saskatoon. This is a restaurant that specializes in game. The have a cute advertisement with pictures of bison and deer and duck and ostriches with a byline that says, ‘There’s a place for all of God’s creatures….next to the mashed potatoes.” We enjoyed wild boar sausages, venison and duck sausages, scallops wrapped in bacon and Joseph had a kangaroo steak and I had a buffalo ribeye. I would have had kangaroo, but I’ve had it before and it made me feel a bit jumpy…
Much talk on things literary and English and American and Joseph took a copy of my new Gargoyle Code and a copy of my book of poems soon to be available. Good friends are rare, and it was a joy to be with Joseph. As the Baptists used to say, “It was a little foretaste of glory.”

American kangaroos?Well,I never did hear such a thing…..I didn't know you wrote poetry Father.I'm particularly partial to poetry, well spiritual poetry anyway.I might just have to treat myself, but I don't understand internet financing, unfortunately.Actually, the full truth is,I am also scared of it.Mind you,a lot of folks I know feel the same way.Is there any non-internet way of ordering your books, enabling you to get the money etc?

Shadowlands, I think the Kangaroo meat is imported from down under. Don't be scared of internet payment. It's safe. However, if you would like to send me a check for any books you may always do this through communication with me by email. If you are in the UK we can arrange for you to make a direct payment in sterling to my UK bank account, and we'll send the books from here. Be in touch by email through my website contact page.

I was able to meet and chat with Joesph Pearce at our Buffalo Catholic Home School Conference in May. He spoke there, and his talk was wonderful. I was impressed with how approachable he was, selling books and chatting with us all in the vendor area.

It was a surprise to read that Joseph Pearce is living in Greenville. How so? He is still listed as Writer-in-Residence and Associate Professor of Literature at Ave Maria University in Naples, Florida, and the Co-Editor of the St. Austin Review and the Editor-in-Chief of Sapientia Press.

Just saw JP in Tamapa at the IHM conference. I missed his first talk, but caught his second one on Shakespeare. All I can say is FANTASTIC! I didn't get a copy of his book, since the woman in front of me bought the last one.:( It's good to know that one of my favorite writers is good pals with one of my other favorite writers.
