Hungry Beast

I am aware that a blog is a Hungry Beast, because readers like to be fed every day at least once. Being fickle creatures, the blog reader soon trots off elsewhere to get his fix. Alas, when I don’t blog I see my reader numbers drop and realize it was all a case of cupboard love to begin with. And here I thought they all loved me with an undying love.

But really really, your poor blogger has been rather snowed under: First, it is the month of May in a high school and it’s like you are on the last hill of a roller coaster. Then, of course, she who must be obeyed is on a little holiday to the damp land so yours truly is (with magnificent help from the Fantastic Four…not forgetting the local casserole brigade) coping with running the suburban taxi service, cooking for five, cleaning up puppy poop AND managing a re-fit of two bathrooms for Mrs. L.s return. Oh yes, on top of this I’ve received a new appointment as a parish priest.

All very much fun and I am enjoying it muchly. However, I’m aware that you poor blog readers must be feeling neglected. Not that there hasn’t been much to write about. I want to continue my meditations on the Lord’s prayer. The Archbishop of Canterbury has said King Henry VIII is probably in hell, and considering that he is the founder of the Anglican Church this is a bit like Pope Benedict saying St Peter is roasting down below; well the Vicar will surely have a few thoughts on that matter. Then there is the oil spill in the Gulf. I’m sure Todd will want to blame George Bush and Sarah Palin for that, and numerous other ideas have been spinning between my ears like hamsters on a treadmill.

So don’t leave me dear readers. I haven’t given up you you. Drop me a line in the comment box if you’re still there.

I'm still here and have no intentions of trotting off. Could you wife possibly have a more awesome title than "she who must be obeyed?"

Realmente preocupada. Rezo para que todos los electrodomésticos funcionen bien y los hijos no pesquen algún catarro de nariz o estómago. Dios le pague su católico seriedad y humor. Dios le devuelva pronto a casa a su esposa. In fact I'm seriously worried. I pray for your washing/cooking/cleaning machines don't stop and children don't fall with flu or stomachache. God bless your catholic seriously humour. God may come back home your wife as soon as possible.Sorry about spanglish languaje, father.

I could never stray!! I check in multiple times a day on my phone. :)If you're busy with other things, that makes sense sometimes. That whole priest thing takes up a lot of time. Not to mention the husband/father role too. Give yourself a break. God Bless Father!!

  • http://www.blogger.com/profile/01198856128213307540 Elizabeth

I'm still reading and you are in my prayers. It's interesting that the Archbishop of Canterbury said that Henry VIII is probably in hell. Wouldn't it make an Anglican think? Something's not right!

  • http://www.blogger.com/profile/15054021958694262996 Wendy

You are on my daily reading list, Father. If there is no update, then I go back and read something else – the meditations on the Lord's Prayer take more than one reading and a lot of thought.Even bloggers should be able to take time off, especially when life intervenes.(That's heresy, right? Oh well, back to Confession.)

Still here, and praying for you in the new assignment. Bloggers need breaks now and then and many don't post every day. Sometimes we readers DO start taking the bloggers for granted. As a blogger myself, I really appreciate those who take the time to leave a comment.Kay

Ah, blog life canna supercede real life. Good on you for taking care of the homefires and the brushfires instead of the cyberfires. We blog infrequently just for that very reason.
