Abbey Church of Mont St Michel

  • Jim

I visited there last year as part of a trip to the Normandy battlefields. The rebuilding of the old town was very impressive, although the parish Mass encouraged self-intinction. The Priest handed out copies of the Prayer to Michael the Archangel and had all repeat the prayer at the end of Mass so not all bad news.
One highlight of the trip was finding a red chasuble on display in the American Airborne Forces museum. Imagine dropping into the darkness in June 1944 armed with nothing but your Mass kit and oils.
    Not even a toy gun.

Have you ever been to St Martin du Canigou in Languedoc/Rousillon? It’s where I am making my canonical retreat this year. It is also near St Michael de Cuxa

I have always longed to visit St Martin du Canigou. I’m jealous.

From what I remember, its quite a steep walk up the stairs to get to the abbey.
